Had a stretch one year (several years back) where a series of terrible things happened on the 14th day of the month. After about six months, I began dreading that day. Never. As a Christian, I cringe when I hear it. I refuse to even utter the word, 'luck'. We have the power to bless others. That is what we should be doing rather than merely wishing people luck, which is a nod to witchcraft.

As a figure of speech, what you going to say when a friend goes for an operation? "I wish you bad luck, I'm going to pray for you." .............or...................... "Good luck, I'll pray for you."

I try to avoid saying that, but rather saying, "Blessings!" However, when I'm speaking to students before they take a quiz or a test . . . I'm not sure it's Ok for me to say that considering it could cause a stir. So I default to, "Good luck" for lack of something else neutral. (Like praying for someone to be healed and they die instead.)

How can prayer be bad for anything, if everyone on Worthy wants to pray for Oldzimm, please do.

(Like praying for someone to be healed and they die instead.) God isn't some genie that can be manipulated by prayer. If someone prays against God's will, chances are best He will send discipline to the person praying in order to correct them. Praying "bad luck" is not Scriptural. What I meant was someone is having a terrible run of things and whatever they pray the opposite seems to happen. I wonder if it's better just not to pray at all.
