Personally I gave up drinking because it affected my judgement. Knowing that I follow Jesus, I am now a target for Satan. I will not make myself an easier target by being easier to temp. I saw/see anything addictive as binding. So I gave up caffeine too. :-) I want nothing in my life that distract me from My Lord Jesus' teachings. Likewise, drinking to a point where you're on the edge is a sin. Drinking to see how far you can go is also a sin. This is definately an intent thing. Surrender yourself to him. Open your heart and pray for his intervention. Ask him to save you from yourself. You must truly wan't him in your life to go to your knees and ask. He will show you the way and plant the seed in you that will lead you to salvation.

Some "religon" permit drinking some dont that is why sometimes one can not just go by dogma.BUT,if you go by the bible you cant go wrong. The Holy Spirit will lead you if you ask. Was Jesus' first miracle not turning water into wine? That wasn't just for decoration or too show off was it? Would Jesus really encourage people to sin by drinking? Drinking to a point of being drunk is not only wrong but harmful to your body.

Paul said all things are lawful for him but all are not good. I don't drink any alchohol because I was an alchoholic, and was dilivered from that curse. The price of that addiction is beyond calculation, so I say if you can handle a little bit it's okay, and good for your health, but if there is any problem with you and alchohol, do like it says, and flee the temptation.
