One can not be saved through sprinkling baptism?

I must certianly agree that context is very key is supporting the scritpures.

Certainly baptism in the holy spirit is mentioned, I was trying to say that the act of water baptism if for the sake of being joined in the name of Christ. I didn't mean that we don't get baptized by the holy spirit, sorry for the confusion.

I would actually like some poeples opinion on what it means to be "baptized into the holy spirit" I have no idea to be honost.

The nessesity of water baptism still stands of the fact that we need to share the "ressurection" with Christ

Do you believe this reference to baptism refers to immersion in water?

The problem is baptism can't be symbolic and necessary at the same time.

Wow, hasn't this been quoted and addressed about 100 times in this thread?? It's like me repeating the phrase (which Jesus did speak) "...an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth....." over and over and using it to "validate" my belief that I can take revenge on someone and ignoring all surrounding scriptures and context and the OVERALL lessons we are taught THROUGHOUT the Bible that revenge is for GOD and not us. That is the exact same thing you are doing with this verse in Mark.

Just in case it's not clear in the way I worded that...I of course do not believe revenge is my right..it was just a rhetorical example.

If you mean by water, who knows...but it sure helps when talking to people who aren't able to get baptized.

Not a chance Joel.....not interested in debating that. I'm just wondering who's not been baptized in this thread 'cuz it seems some are arguing over something here that could make some folks question their salvation.....what does Paul say about that ?

1 Timothy 1:23

And before anyone twists my thoughts into saying that I think this topic is stupid or foolish, don't bother You know that's not what I mean I guess what I'm trying to say is if anyone here has not been baptized, I'd encourage them to get themselves baptized....and for those of us who have been baptized, I'd ask "why are we arguing over whether or not it saves you" ? I've already stated my position on that a few pages back and I loathe redundancy...so, I'll not expound on my position further....I'm just wondering "why the argument" is all ( and I'm aware this is a discussion board and that's the nature of such....to discuss. I'm looking at it from a Biblical point of view of arguing over things such as this ).
