Generally I just get out of my truck and shoot one with my 12 gauge. And yes head shots are preferable even with a shotgun. Otherwise your pulling shot out of the meat. Or have a mess like I did this year after I had to rush a shot thanks to my dog and hit a turkey in the rear with a .270 round. Made a mess.
