King James Version (KJV)

42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

He rose on the first day of the week.   What's the problem?

Matthew 28

King James Version (KJV)

28 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

What does dawn here mean ?

 thanks

Jn 20:1 ALT3 Now on the FIRST DAY BETWEEN THE SABBATHS Mary the Magdalene goes EARLY IN THE MORNING (THERE BEING YET DARKNESS) to the tomb and she sees the stone having been taken away from the tomb.

Lk 24:1 Now on the FIRST DAY BETWEEN THE SABBATHS , AT EARLY DAWN they came to the tomb.

Mk 16:1 -2 AND THE SABBATH HAVING PAST, Mary the Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices so that having come they should annoint Him. And VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING ON THE FIRST DAY BETWEEN THE SABBATHS THEY COME TO THE TOMB, THE SUN HAVING RISEN.

Mt 28:1 Now AFTER THE SABBATHS, AT THE DAWNING INTO THE FIRST DAY BETWEEN THE SABBATHS, Mary the Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the grave.

Now what do the words in capital letters mean to you? They seem explicitly clear to me, though some others have tried to construe them to mean something other than is clearly stated.

ALT3 is The Analytical-Literal Translation of the New Testament, Third Edition, and is based on the best Majority Text. The one used by the KJV had not been comepletely translated I understand, and they had to use some Latin texts as well to complete it. Gary Zeola the translator of ALT3 is both native Greek and a student of New Testament Greek. He is also a born again believer who leans on the Holy Spirit to help him in his understanding of the Scriptures as well as his understanding of New Testament Greek. I highly respect this translation as well as Wuest's Expanded Translation which agrees with this understanding of the scriptures in question.

I hope this helps to clear up your apparent confusion.

Blessings,

Willa

the prophet Daniel gave a prophecy he described as “seventy weeks” (Dan. 9:24-27). In this prophecy , it  is a dual in nature as many prophecies in the bible are . The Messiah was foretold to be cut off “in the midst of the week.” Wednesday is literally the fourth, or middle day, of a seven-day week. So then, it was in the “midst of the week” that Christ was “cut off.” (It should be noted that this prophecy in Daniel was a foretelling of Christ also being “cut off” in the midst of His ministry—after 3 1/2 years [Fall A.D. 27 to Spring A.D. 31]—if the biblical application of “a day for a year” is properly applied to the seventieth week of that prophecy.) Numbers14:34, Ezekiel 4:6

Daniel 9:26 - After the sixty two sevens (end of the 69th week), the Anointed One will be cut off....   These are weeks of years, not days of the week.  Mid week is half of a seven year period, not the middle of the calender week.

It is not duel in nature.

70 Sevens have been decreed for your people (Israel) and your holy city (Jerusalem) to: do the six tasks,  They have done none of them.  There are markers within the 70 Sevens, that is what is in Dan 9:25 to 27.  Christ dies at the end of the 69th week as Scripture says.

Scripture says in Matt 28 - After the Sabbath, at dawn (morning) on the first day of the week, Mary and Mary went to look at the tomb.  There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.  His appearance was like lightning and his clothes were white as snow.  The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.  The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here, he has risen just a he said.

Take the sequence of events as they are listed.  1. at dawn of the first day of the week the two Mary's were going to the tomb. 2.  There was a great earthquake.  3. An angel of the Lord rolled away the stone and sat on it.  4.  The guards were terrified.  5.  The angel talked with the women.

Luke 24 says, On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took spices... they found the stone rolled away, they entered the tomb and they came out two men in clothes that gleamed like lighting stood beside them...  v.22 - In Addition, some of our women amazed us, they went to the tomb early this morning.

John 20 says - Early on the first day of the week while it was still dark...

Christ arose on the first day of the week, near daylight.

Friday night makes one night; Saturday during the day makes one day; Saturday night makes one more night. That makes one day and two nights. That falls short of three days and three nights by 2 days and 1 night. We have only half of the total number of days. In hours, we have 36 at the most, when 72 hours are required for Jesus to be truthful and to be our Savior.

'In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day ( which starts at evening ) of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it… And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID

Christ was already resurrected by the time the women came to the grave. We are told that they appeared 'in the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week. the END of the SABBATH, that is, Saturday evening or late afternoon, and NOT Sunday morning.
