Hi everyone,

I have recently started reading the Word again after a time of being away from the Lord and find myself having a hard time being consistent with my reading. In the reading that I have done I have also been left with my many questions that I want to discuss with other committed Christians that we might seek the Lord for answers to.

I thought of discussing these questions in public on the forum but it has been my experience that too often threads get hijacked by one's and taken in a direction the ends up causing hurt feelings, misunderstandings, judgements, and the like preventing us from getting what the Lord might want us to see out of our discussion.

So...I am looking for a brother or two that might be willing to read the book of Acts together with me and to interact back and forth in a daily email to discuss what we are reading. With a view to learning from the Lord together.

I don't need a brother to teach me per se. Nor do I need a theologian to enlighten me. What I am looking for are brothers who recognize their need for God, who acknowledge their own failings, and who want to truly and sincerely sit at the feet of Christ and learn from Him through His word. As we read and pray over what we read together.

Such a discussion would also help me, and perhaps others, to be faithful to read every day and might give us some daily, as opposed to once a week on Sunday, fellowship. Who knows we might even become Internet friends .

Anyway if anyone is interested please reply on this thread and we can work out the details before we start "conversing" back and forth through email.

I am primarily interested in seeking the Lord with others who are humble of heart and letting Him teach us as we read and discuss what He has to say together.

Thanks.

Carlos

Hi ChosenbyHim .

Hey I know I'm new but I just started reading through the book of acts and would love to do that. So I am definitly willing.

Thanks for your willingness to do this with me ChosenbyHim. That's very encouraging. However....and PLEASE don't take this the wrong way...I am looking to do this with a brother or two (as in male members).

Given that I am married and given the very real possiblility that deep friendships could begin to form as we discuss things and as the Lord draws our hearts together I am not sure that it would be a good idea for me to do this with sisters in the Lord.

Let me know if you think differently ChosenbyHim but I'm not sure I feel comfortable entering into this kind of discussion with you through personal email back and forth every day.

I suppose it could be done if there were several that wanted to do this with us where we could then do a sort of email list to each other. Problem is, and I don't really know how to get around this with any group, is how to keep out those that might just want to argue or else those who might not have humble hearts. Teachable and willing to learn before the Lord.

With one on one emails to each other it's no problem. If someone is revealed to be a person who is not teachable or willing to learn from the Lord then we can just stop emailing that person or set up a diferent temporary email address (if they persist in emaling us) but with a group all emailing to each other it's a bit more difficult to do that without cutting everyone else off too.

Many "Christians" seem to have bigger heads than hearts and I would not want to enter into heartfelt discussions with such. Nothing wrong with using our heads mind you. It's just that when we use our heads and not our hearts we grow insenstive to God and somewhat unresponsive to what He may want us to learn from Him. Making it tougher on others when we must work our way through the intellectualism that one's may put greater than neccessary stock in.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone wants to share any. Acts is a great book and there is much there that I think the Lord would want for us to be open to but I am trying to figure out a way to discuss this with others on a daily basis that does not involve opening up a forum thread to do it (opening it up to the whole world and leading almost inevitably to a less profitable discussion than it could be).

Carlos

PS. I wish there were more men as teachable and as attuned to God as readily as sisters seem to be sometimes. Sisters in general seem to be more sensitive to God in terms of wanting to do things that will draw them closer to God than men seem as ready to do. Perhaps it goes with the more relational nature of women. I don't know :emot-hug:.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
