OF course this is man-made ism....

In the past the changes were/are accomplished through the work of the Mighty Holy Spirit....

We have been warned about those always studying but never coming to a knowledge of the truth....

"MY sheep hear MY voice....." Whose voice are these people hearing?

Yes, it most definitely is a new way of thinking. Ever heard of "Hegelian Dialectic"? This has the makings of it.

Here's one example, I've witnessed 2 in my time, personally, and they happened exactly like this:

The People's Church by Paul Proctor

The terribly sad thing is that Mr. Warren probably doesnt even know what he is doing .... as do not the thousands of pastors across this nation and worldwide who are teaching this and the thousands and thousands of people sitting in their churches embracing and absorbing this as though it were manna from heaven itself!

More saddness in the fact that most DO NOT WANT TO HEAR criticism of these "great" teachers! Much like the Word/Faith proponents who shout "DO NOT TOUCH GOD'S ANOINTED!" (though they are terribly misusing that passage) whenever one challenges the teachings of their gods (Hey! They themselves claim to be gods, so I use the term in that sense), their leaders ... Copeland, Hagin, Hinn, Parsley, Meyers ... and many many more!

What do we do? Pull out of those churches or stand up and shout?

1. It would seem that the accusation is tha Warren does know what he is doing and is intentionlly leading people astray. The fact that so-called references to the "new age" are subtly planted in his books would be an indication of a genuine attmept at deception.

2. As for people sucking this stuff up... not really. Even the people who get involved with the Purpose Driven Life stuff have very little sticking power. Most of the people I know who read the book have forgotten what they read, and their lives are no different now than before. I doubt they would have picked up on any "New Age" nonsense.

This is sooooo 2004. It is just a fad, and pretty soon people will be on to next latest craze, and Warren's book will be forgotten and collecting dust on their shelves. None of my friends got all "New Age" after reading his stuff. Most of them didn't even get half way through the "40 days" until they were distracted by family commitments and other things. Nobody takes this stuff seriously.

Much ado about nothing.

I wish it were a flash in the pan, but I've seen how great the damage is. It is not a small thing. If I had not witnessed the results myself, I would not have believed it either, but I have and it was almost identical to the article I posted by Paul Proctor. I would encourage you to read it, so that you would be able to spot the beginnings of these things. I have seen them, it brings a terrible spirit of falsehood over the church.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that offended me at first...but now kind of makes sense.

"Christians: The proverbial Chicken Littles for over 2,000 years"

Anytime there is a hint of false doctrine, we cut that person off and declare them a child of Satan. Could it just be that Rick Warren honestly believed that he could help people and that it is just a fad?

That's kind of how I see it. I cannot speak to every person and every experience; I can only speak to what I see around here.

Our church went through the 40 days, and it pretty much fizzled out. It was reported that of the those who started it, only about 20% made it past the half way mark, and even fewer finished it.

Everything continues as it had before. Our pastor did not change his format or anything. In fact, if he did, many of the older members who are also the biggest tithers would hold back their giving in protest (it has happened before). Our church is too far in debt for the pastor to rock the boat, LOL!

My parents went through some of the 40 days, but now they are back to being CNN junkies, and watching their favorite dramas and sitcoms. It is going to take a lot more than Rick Warren's books to send most church members into the New Age, or other false doctrine.

Dear Leonard,

I'm not sure I understood your post on the other thread or not? But, did you see this thread? This is the one I was speaking of, and the link above on my previous post? Could you read it?

Here's another article on these things that I totally agree with.

The Adulation of Man in the Purpose Driven Life

We need to remember that in the last days there will be great deceptions "within" the church itself, and false teachers will rise up among us.

In His Love,

Suzanne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
