Shalom Becky,

Our faith in essence is simple and often people make it more complicated then it needs to be.

Our faith is simply realizing that we are sinners -- and there's no way to save ourselves -- so we thrust our entire being into the promised Messiah of Israel, the Lamb of God who was given before the foundation of the world, we thrust our entire existence on the Jesus of Nazareth that His sacrifice on Calvary paid the sin debt that we owe!   But it's a gift -- just like any gift -- unless one receives it -- one never has it!

The Bible is its own best dictionary -- and you say your faith is not very strong -- how does one grow in faith?  As the Bible says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  Romans 10:17

So your faith grows by reading, meditating and studying the Word of God!  That's a great starting point!  :)

Hello Ms. Beck. There is but one way to grow, and that instruction was given you by George above. It is a life-long endeavor. We, as men and women of finite capabilities, seek and strive to understand our God who is absolutely eternal (without end). EVERY thing about God is forever expanding. We will NEVER know it all... but we can pay attention and seek wisdom for that which God deems to be our lives.

Seems like this is a much higher than usual place to be when it comes to brothers and sisters with knowledge to offer up...thus paving the way for you to find wisdom (God's given ability to properly apply knowledge to life in the proper way, at the proper time). Also, finding a fellowship local to you is important. We need to "get out of the house" and go to a gifted church/

There's alot of people here for you... Please feel free top take advantage of it.  Your brother, Matt...

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of the Living God. Jesus came as one of us, died and took the punishment for all of our sin. He rose the third day and lives in heaven at the Father's right hand . He forgives our sin if we ask Him. Our faith is simple...we believe in Jesus and His saving grace.

Why are you afraid if going to church?which church? Do you read the Bible? I recommend you read the Bible...the New Testament and then the Old.learn it but before you read ..each day, ask God the Father to give you understanding to know what His Word says and to guide you to do His good and perfect will in your life. If you can find a church that Teaches what God has placed in your heart after reading an d learning from Him....go to that church.

Church's can be hit or miss. People have different ways in which they express themselves and worship God. When you find the right one, the Spirit will lead you to keep attending. I heard this great message on faith the other day. Hebrews 11:1 gives a basic definition of faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." However, this definition can be hard to grasp for somebody who does not understand the basics of faith. Faith can be thought of as a three step process. The first step is knowledge. You read the word of God so that you know what it says. For instance, you learn that Christ died on the cross as payment for your sins. Romans 10:21 explains that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. To use an analogy, you know what a chair is. A chair is something that you sit on. The second part of faith is belief. You believe that Christ died on the cross as payment for your sins. Similarly, you believe that if you choose to sit in a chair it will support your weight. Or if you have a friend who intends to catch you in a trust fall, you may believe that your friend will catch you. However, knowledge and belief is not enough. You also have to trust God. You trust that God will perform the promises that he makes in the bible. The Lord is a very present help in time of need. The Lord will direct your steps, give you strength, peace, joy, will not withhold any good thing from you, whatever you ask in Jesus's name will be given to you, He will answer your prayers, save you, and give you an abundant life. Faith means taking God at His word through trust. Using the analogy, actually sitting in the chair is trusting that it will sustain your weight; or actually falling backwards is trusting that your friend will catch you. God has given you what you need to be able to trust Him. You can think of Hebrews 11:1 as saying now the word of God is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God tells us that He never changes and the promises that He made in the Bible can always be relied on.

Hey, I know what you mean, there are many churches that can make you lose your faith.

Churches often like to appeal to the people. There are two ways of doing that: Saying everything is ok, feelgood and making God a powerless joke, for those who don't want to get up and do something. Often these churches (at least in my experience) have a superficial community, no real relationships. And then there's the opposite, churches only preaching what is wrong, full of negativity. You go there and think it's all about being against everything (the internet, movies, anything popcultural, homosexuals, whatever....). For me this is also a way to bend the bible in order to appeal to the people, in this case to appeal to those that like to be negative, that like to hear the bad things and like to fuel their hatred on others, society, whatever.

If you can't find a good church and feel unwell there, I'd rather not go than forcing myself into something that does me no good.
