The flood and the land splitting up?...well...there is not even a hint of that in Genesis as far as I can see...

But I stand behind what I have written about the topic of rain...

if you have a way to disagree with what I wrote, then I will wait to see how...

This morning my pastor said that until the flood, there had never been rain? Is this a commonly accepted theory? Is there anything to back it up or did he interpret "things never before seen" as meaning rain when I always interpreted that as meaning Flood?

The Pastor is correct, there was NO precipitation before the flood.

Genesis 2:5 - And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; 14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. 15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. 16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. 17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. 18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. 20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

This is the first time that it rained. We also see that SOME of the water actually came from underground too. These "fountains of the Deep" can still be observed today under the oceans. There are geysers and ocean ridges spewing boiling water and sulphuric vapors into the seas. We see that the flood was NOT limited to one geographic region, as it is specifically stated that it was under the whole heaven, and the mountains were covered.

Now I take an opportunity to preach on "natural use" of the man and woman.

We see that four couples went onto the ark. They were 4 men and 4 women. Each man had a wife, not a husband. Each woman had a husband, not a wife. We see that the animals went in groups of two: one male and one female. However, there were actually seven pairs(Gen. 7:2, ) of each "clean" animals. This proves that the OT Law was originally given long before Moses, as there was already a distinction between "clean" and "unclean" and God didn't even have to stop and explain himself to Noah(see also Gen. 3: 21, 4:4). We see that EVERY animal was brought onto the ark, refuting the doctrines or theories that some creatures became extinct during the flood. We see that everything came "after its own kind" which means that nothing had "evolved" since it was created. Nor was there a pair consisting of one animal of one type, and another of another type, etc.

Now, pardon the bluntness, but if even the animals could tell what went where, then human beings are without excuse. Even the animals knew to mate with the OPPOSITE sex.
