A guy in my class asked me to explain this verse to him(Matthew 16:28). I did not understand what he meant really, he was kind of vauge. But anyway, he believed in Christ but, he believes all the prophies were fulfilled when the Temple was destroyed. Of course I new that was not true, that is not my problem, I am just trying to explained what he believed. He said he was something that started with a P... Prodonist... I don't now something along those lines. He had a few more verses, but I will get in to those later.

Can someone help me out here, by explain the verse to me, and what I can say to him? Thanks

Oh and if it is possible, can you make it as simple as possible. I have a hard time explaining things to others, it is as though the words leave me or I cannot find them... well thanks again. :emot-hug:

Hi JC,

In that verse, Jesus is explaining that some of His disciples will encounter His transfiguration (His visible transformation on the Mount, that affirms the glory of Jesus the Messiah in Matthew 17:1-13). Those people were Peter, James and John.

Greetings J.C.

I think you mean "preterist". There is both "partial" and "full" preterism. A partial preterist believes that most of prophecy was filled by 70 A.D., whereas a "full preterist" believes that there is no remaining prophecies to be fulfilled after 70 A.D.

Both have to "spiritualize away" much of scripture. Full preterism is highly discounted among most mainstream evangelicals, but partial preterism seems to hve grown in recent years to include Hank Hannagraff, the Bible Answer Man. I personally disagree with both models.

So that was when, during the Transfiguration, they saw the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom. That is was the Transfiguration is right?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No, the Mt. of Olives "transfiguration" was NOT the Lord coming into His Kingdom.

Matthew 16:27-28 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. 28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Matthew 24:30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Now, if you don't know the scriptures like the back of your hand, and in particular eschatology, you should not even attempt to debate or show your friend the error of his ways. He has bought into a lie and that lie will grab hold of you if you do not know how to defend against it.

The full preterist believes that we are currently in the 1,000 year reign of Christ. That in itself should tell you something, since it has been almost 2,000 years since our Lord arose and ascended to the right hand of the Father.

The Apostles were given a command to "Go ye unto all the world and preach the Gospel." The years between now and then have been for the ushering in of the Gentiles into the Kingdom of God, of which at the end of that time, that is the "fulness of the Gentiles", the Jews will be called by God to enter in to the Kingdom.

In those last days, there shall be a great tribulation as has never been known before to mankind. The Beast shall arise and wage war against the Saints of God, killing most everyone who will not take his "mark". As you might guess this has not occured yet.

But I tell you this so that you can do your own study, and when you mature a lot more than where you currently are, THEN you may be able to defend the Hope that is in you.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
