I do not know where you got the idea I was speaking of before marriage. The part about moving into a dorm together. At any rate, you have an incorrect understanding of what premarital counseling is and what it seeks to accomplish. It's not simply about teaching people to live in close proximity with each other. Married people live TOGETHER, not in close proximity.

It's not simiply about teaching people to live in close proximity with each other. Married people live TOGETHER, not in close proximity. Spoken like someone who has never been married. The "together" part is easy, it is the close proximity part that takes some getting used to. Of course it all teaches how to make decisions, finances and how to settle disagreements. But none of it has to do with Love.

Is that why it is called PREmarital? Yes, PREmarital counseling helps to teach people how to live together AFTER they are married, that is why it is called PREmarital. Is this confusing for you? LOL I am sorry to hear that. Let me see if I can help make it more clear The purpose of PREmarital is to help people prior to being married to deal with life after they are married

"Till Death Due Us Part" is a very long time. Unfortunately many today ignore those words. A Christian marriage counselor is there to help you prepare for these many years. There are many Pastors who will not marry you unless you have had premarital counseling. I respect the fact that a marriage means enough to this Pastor who is about to join two lives together to require this. The honeymoon phase dies out. There are many, many challenges that the couple must overcome together. First with God in the center of their relationship but then together. The couple must ask....Are we really as compatible as we think we are or are we just blinded but love? Are their other reasons why we are getting married? Are we thinking with our hearts only or also by our brain? There are many questions to consider. It takes a lot of courage to say " I do not think we would make a good lifetime couple" goodbye.
