(Worthy News) - President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order easing the enforcement of rules prohibiting tax-exempt religious institutions from involvement in politics.

"We are giving our churches their voices back," Trump said at the White House Rose Garden flanked by religious leaders and White House officials.

Trump signed the order, called "Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty," which promises to "protect and vigorously promote religious liberty." [ Source ]

I fear he just opened the door for a lot of lawsuits. Then again that may be what he wants.

It is also a great way to dilute the message of Christ, mix it with politics.

I think that's what's wrong with our country..... Christ isn't in our politics.

Then again go back in Worthy archives and see how many people said they would never vote for Romney because he was a mormon...

I think we should have Christ in our politics, but what I do not want is politics in our Christ.

The message Christ delivered was political. His testimony flew in the face of the tradition of Roman government. And the authority of the temple government.

I voted for Obama his second time running because Romney wasn't qualified to be trusted to take his place. I think Romney thought the Mormon ticket would get him into the office. But he really was a politician before he was a religious honorable man. In my opinion.

Too late. Every church or religious entity that has been afforded a 501(c)3 tax exempt religious status by the IRS has politics in their Christ.

That's the rub. Churches don't appear to know they can run tax exempt without that and under the first amendment protection and so called separation clause.

The 501(c)3 is what puts the constraints on because that's subscribing to a permission to be tax free under the rules.
