from RNS:

"With the possible exception of his turnaround on Islam, the biggest religion news to come out of President Trump’s first trip abroad was the revelation that his wife is Catholic.

"The story broke during the Trumps’ visit to the Vatican, when Pope Francis was seen blessing a rosary brought along by Melania and someone from the Daily Mail asked the question. Given the endless coverage of Ivanka and Jared’s Jewishness — to say nothing of Donald’s own religiosity (or lack thereof) — how can we not have known that we’ve got the first Catholic First Lady since Jackie Kennedy?

"Over at GetReligion, Terry Mattingly (surprise) blames the mainstream media’s religion-blindness. After all, a little poking around would have shown Melania sporting a rosary in a photo published in the Palm Beach Post on the occasion of her wedding (in an Episcopal church) to Donald in 2005.

"But I suspect there’s more going on here than media negligence. It’s that pesky Catholic divorce and remarriage thing...."

Really? Can't get anywhere with attacking Trump now they have to attack his wife and their marriage? Can one get much lower? I think it's about time people grow up.

Yeah, this is not really a good look at all.  There are plenty of legit issues, who cares if the Catholics consider it a valid marriage or not

Well, I don't know about Mrs. Trump, but I sure don't care what the RCC says about their marriage.  They are married, legally, and in the church.  It's disgusting to keep doing these things to a family.  And how about casting aspersions on their son?  It just makes me sick.  I can't believe a nonCatholic would even post this garbage.

That would be The Episcopal Church -- the bridge between Catholic and Protestant faiths.

But I never realized that Melania was also Roman Catholic.

I don't think that anyone on Worthy worries about what Catholics think ;)

Going after Trump's wife is pretty low, OS2.

I don't know if she is or not but the decrees about divorce etc. come from the RCC.

I found it revealing that Pope Francis was seen blessing Melania's rosary beads despite the fact she married a twice-divorced non-Catholic. Only a liberal cleric would do that, yet many on Worthy complain about the Pope's leftist politics.
