.. Where is Abel thy brother?
....  And he said,
......  "I know not:

"And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground." (Genesis 4:10)

Don't know if we are to comment or ask questions in this thread? But I just have to say this... Whenever I read how God spoke these words, there is something powerful about it in my spirit. Anyone else get that sense?

Any significance to why it says crieth to me from the ground?  Is that just a poetic way of God telling Cain he is aware of what happened? (We know the ground is where Abel's blood was shed.) Silly question maybe. :b:

(I have pm'd you, @turtletwo) It is powerful: there are two figures of speech used to convey the great indignation and vexation caused by the 'bloods' (plural - 'or much blood' - referring to Able' s posterity) that had been shed by Cain that day.

And now art thou cursed from the earth,
which hath opened her mouth
to receive thy brother's blood
from thy hand;’

(Gen 4:11)

When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth."

Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me." Genesis 4:14

But the LORD said to him, "Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.Gen 4:15
