The Law doesnt constrict us. We are free in Christ. What does that freedom mean? Is it freedom to continue in our casual sinful ways? Nooooo. We are free from the penalty of sin. As new creations, new born in Christ, we are to live our lives in a way pleasing to God. We are to take up the cross, to turn our backs on sin, and live for the Lord. Jesus said there was only one way to heaven. One analogy Ive heard is this: Someone is on trial for sin. God is the Judge. That person is guilty. God passes the sentence: guilty of sin, mandatory death sentence. God doesnt want to do that to us. He loves us. Since everyone else is under the same penalty, there is no one left to pay that in our place. So God gave us His Son to pay that penalty. As the prisoner is being led out of the courtroom, God offers His Son in the prisoner's place. The choice is theirs whether or not to take it. The choice is up to everyone whether or not to accept Reaperman. Sadly there are many who wont accept His sacrifice in their stead. This is why there is only one way to heaven. There is only one who could pay our penalty. There is no other religion that can offer that to anyone. God doesnt accept "good people" since He clearly says that no one is good. God doesnt accept our works, since He clearly states that our works are as filthy rags. We cant do anything to save ourselves, except call on His Son. There is no other way to Him.
