I just left Kuwait a month ago. I didn't see a large amount in the newspapers about Kuwaitis suffering. Anyhow, GWS is a combination of things that happened to folks' bodies under the stress of combat, the inoculations taken to prevent biological/chemical weapons injuries feared that might occur if Saddam used his WMDs, burning oil well fires filling the air with toxic smoke that literally circled the Earth itself, and exposure to toxic waste such as depleted uranium dust and particles. DU is so toxic that even now you are not allowed to get inside or on any war damaged Iraqi armored vehicles that litter Kuwait and Iraq itself. They are all off limits and the stuff is everywhere. Up at Balad AB in the Sunni Triangle there is leftover pieces parts of vehicles and such. In Kuwait, the area of the infamous highway of death- Road to Basra - was considered so toxic that the area was cordoned off and another road built around the carnage that was once a bunch of Iraqis fleeing Kuwait after being routed in the first Gulf War. There are just too many factors and one that the US government refuses to talk about...the actual use of some chemical agents on our troops when we booted the Iraqis out of Kuwait in 1991. Yeah, it happened and we never responded like BUSH I said we would, but it did happen. Just find some folks from Charlie Co Tanks a reserve Marine unit from Tallahassee, Florida and ask them.
