what if someone is sort of confiding in you about something a colleague did to them thats shows the colleagues' nasty side e.g selfishness? something that hurt them?

I hate to say it, but usually this is gossip. Why are they confiding? Can you do anything about it? If not, why tell you? This makes you think less of this person (whether they deserve it or not).

I hate to say it, but usually this is gossip. Why are they confiding? Can you do anything about it? If not, why tell you? This makes you think less of this person (whether they deserve it or not).

That person needs to go to the colleague and tell them they did wrong instead of being a 12 year old and blabbing to someone else!
