If you read the two verses before 1 John 1:8 it's talking how a person gets saved or purified. So I believe verse 8 is talking about people who won't get saved because they believe they have no sin. It's not talking about those who are already saved/purified. That's my interpretation.

Read back your posts o this and see that that, and my previous post, is exactly what you have been saying. You cant say its impossible to sin once saved, then say its still possible to sin. What is this possible sin if its once you havent done? what form does this sin take? No I'm not saying it's impossible to sin once saved.

If we are purified why do we need to be sanctified our entire lives? When God saves us we are JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT. NOT AUTOMATELY PURIFIED. That is not even rational. You keep saying" i believe" . Sorry Charlie. That isnt going to cut the mustard.

This may be a dumb question but what do you mean by "sanctified our entire lives?"

Sanctification is an ongoing process and does not stop until the day we die in our flesh and thats when we are glorified in Christ. When we are reborn in CHRIST we are Justified in Gods sight. We are NOT PURIFIE D.

I'll repost what I said it that clears it up. "Once you're saved, you are expected not to sin. Is it still possible to sin? Yes. Is it impossible not to sin? No" Edited September 28, 2018 by JohnKing67
