So, Paul requires that we obey Torah. Jesus likewise upholds Psalms as law which can not be set aside (Jn.10). I know you recognize this [verses 11 - 12] as the scripture passage that the devil used to tempt Jesus to "show off" who he was. The devil twisted the meaning to tempt Jesus to stand on top of the Temple and jump off. The devil wrongly [on purpose wrongly] wanted Jesus to jump off the Temple and have angels catch him so that even his foot would be hurt by a rock. This, of course, isn't what the passage is saying. Nor is verse 13 saying that Christians can go around stomping on lions and poisonous snakes without harm. Oh, we need to be oh-so-careful how we interpret scriptures.
