I read the story of David and how he threw small rock and it killed the faithless barbarian. So, I know there is circumstances that require it.

The Bible prohibits murder but also justified killing.

Concision, dear readers, concision.

What else is to be possibly said to the OP but "Study the scriptures prayerfully to discern which killings are justified"?

Goliath fell out of surprise “ nothing like that had entered his head before”

David was destined to sling that rock, and he too was punished for it

God told him “you cannot build my temple you have too much blood on your hands”

It was his desire to build God a home, he himself had a great empire and he looked out and saw God living in a tent… He made it his mission that when his son Solomon took his place he would have all the building materials he needed

But bloodshed does. Not go unpunished it is not for us to take vengeance

Romans 12:19

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

accidental killing is a different situation and they had sanctuaries for those that killed by accident to flee to

Are you saying that we should not enlist in the Army?

What about David and Goliath.

Is it something that you read in the scriptures that the Lord told David that he is punishing him for killing Goliath if not why you are saying that?

Is it from a sermon or from the bible?

without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.  Jesus took our sin upon Himself on the cross.  God purposed that His only Son be killed for our sin.  God believes in capital punishment.  He commanded that some people be killed for their sin.  We sin when we don't do that in our state prisons, but we are Christians are not under the OT law.  We are forgiven under the finished work of the cross.  However, unbelievers are still under the law.  The law is the schoolmaster that brings us to Christ.

The blood of Yeshua is the only thing that saves us. Obeying the Commandments show our love to Him. So, you speak of the prison system. Do you know of anyone in prison who thought they were "above the law"? The fact that we feel we don't have to follow YHWH's laws is the very reason the world is in the horrible mess it is in. If child molesters, rapists and other vile criminals were executed, there would definitely be less of them.

There was nothing evil in what David did in destroying these nations. Many of them practiced pagan religions that included child sacrifice. God wanted these nations out of the Promised Land so that they wouldn’t pollute the true worship of God. David was in the will of God. It did say in 1st Chronicles 28:3 - "You are not to build a house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has spilled blood."

A point that may be worth looking into is the fact David may not have had time (life) left to build the temple. It took him decades to gather and prepare the materials and the skilled workers needed to build it. We read in 1 Chronicles 22: 2-4 where “David commanded to gather together the resident aliens who were in the land of Israel, and he set stone cutters to prepare dressed stones for building the house of God. David also provided great quantities of iron for nails for the doors of the gates and for clamps, as well as bronze in quantities beyond weighing, and cedar timbers without number, for the Sidonians and Tyrians brought great quantities of cedar to David”.

How do OPs like this become 3-page threads? I always recommend concision. Let me help:

1) The Bible permits killing but not murder killings

2) Read/study the Bible to learn how to parse killing/execution from murder

Which is war?
Which is the clearing out of the promised land by the Jews at God's behest?

The Bible has in-depth answers to both of your questions:

1) Was the land instantly cleared or did the locals have time to repent? For example, read the story of Rahab in the Book of Joshua.

2) Would God appreciate the efforts in some wars? Was it good or evil that Hitler's war efforts were thwarted before he killed millions more non-combatants?
