What about David and Goliath. Is it something that you read in the scriptures that the Lord told David that he is punishing him for killing Goliath if not why you are saying that? Do you know of anyone in prison who thought they were "above the law"? The fact that we feel we don't have to follow YHWH's laws is the very reason the world is in the horrible mess it is in. God wanted these nations out of the Promised Land so that they wouldn’t pollute the true worship of God. David was in the will of God. It did say in 1st Chronicles 28:3 - "You are not to build a house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has spilled blood." A point that may be worth looking into is the fact David may not have had time (life) left to build the temple. It took him decades to gather and prepare the materials and the skilled workers needed to build it. We read in 1 Chronicles 22: 2-4 where “David commanded to gather together the resident aliens who were in the land of Israel, and he set stone cutters to prepare dressed stones for building the house of God. David also provided great quantities of iron for nails for the doors of the gates and for clamps, as well as bronze in quantities beyond weighing, and cedar timbers without number, for the Sidonians and Tyrians brought great quantities of cedar to David”.
