Peter and the disciples are not our pattern for salvation. Paul is our pattern for salvation unto eternal life. We are to believe on Jesus Christ. To answer your second question, I would do as Jesus instructed, beginning with loving the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul, and loving my neighbor as myself. You said Jesus gave Paul His gospel. Then what is this "And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.". Ah a different Gospel? I know only one. Christ came in the flesh born from the virgin Mary. Died on the cross for the worlds sin. Was buried and rose the 3rd day is the only way to the Father. See Romans 4:5 1 Corinthians 1:21 Ephesians 1:13 Believing is being persuaded that something is true. See Romans 4:21 The moment you believe you have eternal life. Titus 1:1 Titus 1:2 Titus 3:7 Trust the gospel of your salvation. Believe in Jesus Christ to have provided payment for your sins and to give you eternal life.
