I'm guessing Jesus DID rest on the sabbath, but sometimes emergencies arose and his help was needed on the sabbath.

Is Sabbath about rest?

The true meaning of the Sabbath is indicated below:

  • Heb 3:18,19 -> "And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.".
  • Heb 4:1  -> "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it."

It is ceasing from our efforts to be pleasing to God that are done in the flesh.  It is resting in the realization that Christ made us pleasing to Him by covering our sinful nature with His own blood, thereby making us able to come into the Father's presence.  We are already pleasing to the Father when we trust in the shed blood of Christ.  That is our Sabbath rest that we enter by faith.
