RESURRECTION= Matthew 22;29-30, Luke 14;13-14, John 5;26-30

 

 

Matthew 22;29-30

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in Heaven.

 

Matthew 27;50-53

Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose; And came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

 

Luke 14;13-14

But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

 

Luke 20;34-36

And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

 

John 5;26-30

For as the Father hath life in Himself; so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself; And hath given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

 

John 11;23-27

Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto Him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  She saith unto Him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

 

I Corinthians 15;20-22

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

 

Philippians 3;9-11

And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the Faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by Faith: That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

 

I Peter 1;3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead; To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for you.

 

Revelation 20;5-6

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

There are several raisings from the dead in scripture (including Lazarus).

Messianic Rabbi Larry Feldman refers to these as resuscitations rather than resurrectons.

They were indeed actually dead, Feldman explains, but they were not raised to eternal life / reurrection

and each and every one had to die again.

There is no indication that these who were raised at the death of Jesus on the cross were "resurrected." 

In fact, Jesus' lone resurrection IS mentioned. 

Point being, to date there is only one resurrected human being: Christ Jesus.

The rest who die in Christ go to be with him absent from the body (2 Corinthians 5:1-8).

And FYI the resurrection is of the body (Romans 8:23) so we don't get confounded in an argument about a

replacement "body" as some believe. The body we are born with will be changed / perfected / fused with our

spirit... but it is the same body.

It is sown a physical body it is raised a spiritual body (1 Corinthians 15:42-50)
