This is why the Church instituted the Cathechism to take any guessing game out of what the Chruch believes. The Catholic Church is completely sound and wounldn't of lasted for 2,000 years if she wasn't.

Then the protestants stole the god of the catholics and are telling the catholics they are worshipping him wrong. But the protestants can't figure out the right way to worship the god they stole, so they split up into about 1500 different denominations. Which one is right? Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist, etc., etc.. For a bunch of people that claim they know god personally, they sure can't agree on anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I notice your name is Tubal Cain... are you a freemason by chance? We never stole the God of the Jews. He came to us in human form, the jews denied Him and continued practicing judaism. The different divisions of Christianity are there for different reasons such as literal-ness of the bible and various degrees of strictness, but that's it. This should come of no surprise to a believer in Christ. The true "Church" of Jesus Christ our Lord is not a physical entity visible by the eye or human intellect...it is a new spiritual creation washed by the blood of the Lamb by faith. Trust me...there were "Protestants" throughout the Catholic Dark Ages...only most of them were living on mountaintops and in caves hiding from being slaughtered. Philippians 1:27: "...that you are standing firm in one Spirit, with one mind struggling together for the faith of the Gospel, not intimidated in any way by your opponents." Philippians 2:2: "...complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking of one thing." It wasn't just one man in leadership, with others under him.Christ is the head of the church. The Holy Spirit is the guide of each Christian. We are called a royal priesthood, the only mediator we need is Jesus and the only teacher is the Holy Spirit. Yes there is leadership in the church, but they are still accountable to each other and to us.The church is not the authority. Only the Bible is. Guest yod
And yet, Jesus DID appoint Peter as leader of His Church.

Anyway, the Rock that Yeshua spoke of was Himself, not Peter.
