Does History repeat itself? If so, is there a reason?

Ecclesiastes 1:9,10: That which has been done is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, "See, this is new"? It has already been in ancient times before us.

Eccl.3: 15 -

"Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account."

In 1 Kings 17:1 we find Elijah the Tishbite, in 2 Kings 2 he was translated

Malachi 4:5 says that Elijah will reappear in the last days~"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

In 1Kings 17 there were 42 months of judgement (James 5:17 tells us it was 3 yrs. and 6 months)

In Revelation 11:2 there will be 42 months of judgement in the tribulation.

1 Kings 17 42 months no rain.

1 Kings 18:2 Famine in the land.

What is the point? God is showing us all through out the Bible that it is going to end like it began. He doesn't want us in darkness but He wants us to study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing His Word.

Matthew 4:3,6&9 At the beginning of His ministry Jesus was told 3 times by Satan "If You're the Son of God..."

At Jesus death He was told 3 times Luke 23:35-39 "If You're the Son of God, save yourself."

"If You're the Son of God, call on Him" If You're the Son of God, save Yourself and us"

At the beginning of His ministry He fasted for 40 days

At the end He was alive on earth 40 days

He was crucified in Jerusalem

He ascended in Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives Acts 1:9-12

He will return in Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives

Adolf Hitler and the Anti-Christ

Hey, you don't suppose Perry got that message and scriptures about God creating the end from the beginning from my thread, "A MYSTERY: The Rapture and the Parable of Ten Virgins" do ya?? Nah, I highly doubt that!!

I was very encouraged though last week as I was watching Perry on tv. He said that there are many hidden prophecies in the parables of Jesus.

All I could think of after watching that was :

Hallelujah - I know I'm not crazy now!! Or if I am, I'm in very good company because Perry is right in there with me!! Yeah, and he's got a worse case of it than I too!!

The sermon is from 2001, I just bought the tape though, saw it in the church bookstore--Sorry!

I did hear him say last week too that Jesus' ministry had clues in it and that was confirmation for my last week of Jesus thread.

Did you hear him say too that he thinks America is the restrainer? That was on late on TBN Friday night. I had thought that some time back too and nobody else did so I thought I was just nuts. Well, that thought wasn't far off hu? Guess we all "got it bad"

That was amazing how so many things lined up. I don't believe the 7 year interpetation of Daniel 9:27 though. But the rest was good. The first few scriptures really hit home. :LOL:

Go to your search and type in Daniel's seventy weeks and read up on it. Those SDA's have you all mixed up! Pray for the Holy Spirit to tell you what is truth and what is not. The prophecy and vision are not finished and Jesus has not become ruler of this world yet and satan still has dominion of this earth. Yes, the battle has been won but it is still not over until He returns. God told Daniel that it would not be fulfilled until many days into the future,...think outside of the box :upsided:

It's not that crazy. Think about who in this world is the one fighting evil and praying and has the most believers in Jesus and who may be over-extending themselves solving the world's problems.

What do you suppose would happen if we fell economically?

You know that is a very interesting thought of America being the restrainer! I have never heard of this idea before, I guess I am guilty to often of just accepting what others have told me, such as the Holy Spirit being the restrainer. I think I might just do an extra study on this and see what I come up with. This is exactly what I love about this board, so many knew ideas and so many people smarter than I am, I get to learn so much from all of you!

That's a good one!

I really love watching Perry. But I don't always agree with everything he believes. I think sometimes, if we're not careful, we can get ahead of God. Make no mistake about it though, I'm not saying he's a false teacher. I believe he has been given a very special gift of revelation, but I sometimes wonder if he is trying to do too much.

I see a problem with America being the restrainer. The restrainer was holding back during the time of the early church in the 1st century, but America is not even 300 years old yet. So it is obvious to me that there must be a different restrainer than the good ole U.S.A.

Here's a little hint though. Whoever the restrainer is, he must be about 2000 years old by now, at least.
