Could He have meant that Himself (the Son of Man) would come in judgment against unbelieving Israel in AD 70?

From what I understand Israel wasn't a nation at all by that time.  The temple was in Jerusalem but even Jerusalem was under Roman rule. I could totally be wrong but when God scattered His people to the world I just believe that is where they went except for the tribe of Judah that went back to build the temple for Christs return, (God bringing in Cyrus) got it done, then they rejected Him and like you said the temple wasn't needed anymore as the Lamb slain and all the other ordinances that required a temple were nailed to the cross.  And weren't the chief priests in charge of the temple appointed by Herod?  And there was certainly no need for the children 'of your father the devil' to have a temple to keep playing 'church' in.

I think that 70 AD was just prophecy fulfilled.  Judgment against the synagogue of Satan.  Gen 3;15

Hi DeighAnn,

Jesus was talking to the people of Israel. The Body of Christ revelation was NOT known then. The `gospel` good news of the kingdom rule of Christ through Israel will be preached in all the world in the tribulation.

And the `Lord`s Feast Days` reveal God`s timeline for Israel from Calvary till the NH & NE. The Passover and Pentecost ha been fulfilled. Then for Israel the feast of trumpets, (throughout the trib,) and then the `Day of Atonement` when the Lord comes to deliver Israel and bring judgment upon the nations. Finally the Feast of Tabernacles will be in their millennium.

If you or anyone want any scriptural detail, then you can check out my latest blog on that topic in Marilyn`s Messages.

Well thank you.  I do.  I have never understood how the 'Feast days' as a clock work and missed that whole thing in all my readings through the word.  I have asked this before and don't remember the answer but does it say somewhere that is why they were laid out as they were and we are to follow them as such?  Again thank you.....d

Hi DeighAnn,

Thank you for being interested. And actually I learnt much as I looked deeper into the Lord`s Feasts & the extra feast days that Israel celebrates, two of which are mentioned in God`s word.

They are NOT for us, though of course all scripture is instructional in God`s overall purposes, of which we are a part.

The Body of Christ is blessed to receive of the fulfillment through Christ of the Passover and Pentecost, (sending the Holy Spirit), however the other 3 Feasts are to be outworked for Israel on the earth. Remember that for the Body of Christ the Lord is outworking His fulfillment now in our lives.

regards, Marilyn.

From the time Jesus said this, to the time He was crucified and resurrected (the Son of man be come) was there enough time to 'have gone over the cities of Israel' or not?

Matt 10:23  Whenever then they persecute you in the city one flee to the next, truly for I say to you no not shall you have completed the cities of Israel until be come the Son of Man

Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Matthew 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Matthew 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

Matthew 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Matthew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Matthew 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Matthew 28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Matthew 28:10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Is it written ANYWHERE that specific amount of time has to pass for Christ 'to be gone' before 'the Son of man come' can be the TRUTH He was speaking to them about?

Shalom, DeighAnn.

There's a much simpler explanation of these passages:

Yeshua` was more than just an itinerate mentor, teaching disciples. He was the Messiah of God, the Son of David, the King-Apparent of Israel. He was offering the Kingdom of God to the nation of Israel, beginning, of course, with His own tribe, the tribe of Judah (Yhudah), the Jews.

Everywhere one sees the "gospel of the Kingdom" being heralded, one will also find the miracles being performed that authenticated the gospel. It was YHWH God's way to endorse the message they conveyed. For instance,

Matthew 4:23 (KJV)

23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching (Greek: keerussoon = "heralding" like a town crier) the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

So, when Yeshua` sent His disciples - the apostles (sent-ones), this is what we read He said:

Matthew 10:1-42; Matthew 11:1 (KJV)

1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these;
The first, Simon, who is called Peter,
and Andrew his brother;
James the son of Zebedee,
and John his brother;
3 Philip,
and Bartholomew;
Thomas,
and Matthew the publican;
James the son of Alphaeus,
and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
4 Simon the Canaanite,
and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying,

"Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach (Greek: keerussete = "[you] herald"), saying,

"'The kingdom of heaven is at hand (Greek: Eeggiken hee basileia toon ouranoon = "Has-drawn-near the kingdom from-the skies.")'

8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10 Nor scrip (writing materials) for your journey, neither two coats, neither [extra] shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16 "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21 "And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come (to that city, town or village).

24 "The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26 "Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40 "He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."

1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities

So, Yeshua` sent the Twelve out ahead of Himself to herald, to announce as a town crier, that the King-to-be was coming to their city soon. They were sent ahead to scout which towns would be receptive and which would be unreceptive to His coming. Afterward, Yeshua` assessed the cities that would not receive Him as the King-to-be, the Messiah of God:

Matthew 11:20-24 (KJV)

20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 "Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes! 22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you! 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day! 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee!"

Later, Luke tells us that Yeshua` sent out seventy (seventy-two) disciples to do the same thing:

Luke 10:1-20 (KJV)

1 After these things the Lord (Yeshua` or Jesus) appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2 Therefore said he unto them,

"The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. 3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip (writing materials), nor [extra] shoes: and salute no man by the way (don't stop to say hi to anyone beside the road). 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say,

"'Peace be to this house.'

6 "And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them,

"'The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.'

10 "But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,

11 "'Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you!'

12 "But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

13 "Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. 15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16 "He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

..... (Time passed.)

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying,

"Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name (authority)!"

18 And he said unto them,

"I beheld Satan (the Enemy) as lightning fall from heaven (as lightning out of the sky having fallen)! 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you! 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven (written in the skies)!"

Yeshua` had to overcome the population's disbelief that He was indeed the Son of David, the Messiah of God to be the next and greatest King of Israel. His own forerunner, Yochanan the Submerger (John the Baptist), was put in prison and then beheaded. So, His own disciples had to take up the job of forerunners to all the towns and villages in the nation of Yhudah (Judaea) to announce the coming of the King of the Jews.

Yeshua` had many disciples for a while, but the ones who came late, would have to study hard to get Yeshua`s lessons before His demise. I.e, there was a "cut-off date!"

Matthew 16:24-27 (KJV)

24Then said Jesus unto his disciples,

"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."

Yeshua` was saying, "It's crunch time! If you're going to follow me, you're going to have to give up everything to follow me, or you won't get it done!"

This was all about His offer of the Kingdom to the Jews. This is what He worked so hard to see accomplished.
