Romans 6:14

Dead to Sin,Alive in Christ.

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning ,so that grace may increase?

By no means!.We died to sin, how can we live  in it any longer?

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in  his resurrection.

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Now if we died with Christ,we believe that we will also live with him.

For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again, death no longer has mastery over him.

The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he  lives ,he lives to God.

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin  but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Do not offer the parts of your body to sin,as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

For sin shall not be your master ,because you are not under law, but under grace.

Its the flesh that is weak NOT THE SPIRIT!and there is a battle of flesh and Spirit, the Holy Spirit will always overcome the flesh, we are children of God and the Holy Spirit is making us into the image of Jesus.......we have the Holy Spirit indwelling our spirit.we have been birthed in the Spirit.

All according to His Purpose and His Plan......absolutely breathtakingly amazing!!

For all of those who are in Christ Jesus/ Born Again/ Regenerated/ Spirit gives birth to spirit/ Christ is ALIVE in us, he’s not a DOCTRINE!

Amen,Amen,Amen!!!!

@R. Hartono

As far as Luke 13:5 goes- we have ,we do,we are--- our lives are a process of repentance as long as we live in these bodies ! We die to ourselves " daily"  as Paul tells the Church at Corinth

Living for Christ is not a " Mandated" life of obedience as under the Law- we Love the Lord and we Love to do what is pleasing to Him.

What do you think that verse of Scripture means?Do you think a Born Again Believer can be unrepentant? I tell you it is not possible simply because we are Indwelled, can Jesus Abide in a defiled Temple? This is why I mentioned earlier you are confusing the flesh with the spirit, the carnal with the Eternal. .  Is Jesus not Holy, how about Holy Spirit? The Spirit is Sealed,it cannot be tainted by sin- it was dead,it has been made Alive....

We do not say " I am Holy" because of singing a song but because we Believe what God Has Promised!  🙏👍❤️

Jesus said that the man who beat on his chest in frustration of.his sinful life is better off than the guy who said " at least I ain't as bad as that guy."

This is a very peculiar situation because in Luke 18:9 it says that Jesus spoke this parable because some people trusted in their righteous works for their righteousness and despised, or Judged others...

This is very strange because the requirements at that time for the people who were born and lived under the Law on one hand it was to live in a certain frame of lifestyle, but not to trust only in that because without their obedience to the part of the Law that requires them to take part in the Passover and the feast of the unleavened bread they could not partake in the other celebrations that followed, THIS IS IT, that made them eligible to participate in the Celebrations in their religious Calendar, and one of them it was the Day of the Atonement...in which day everyone sets down all their boasting in their good works.

On that day the Atonement done in the previous year it was about to expire at any time, and the people will find themselves without the Atonement, they will be subjects of wrath...(maybe). people without the yearly Atonement...(still need to comprehend that)

The were lucky because in due time the New Atonement was made in the Day of the Atonement  on which they stand and they were under the blood of that  new Day of Atonement for that year, till the next...

Jesus points out something that the Pharisee did not consider to thank God for the yearly Atonement, and for the other celebrations as their participation in the Passover celebration that made them eligible for their eligibility to participate in the Day of the Atonement and without that the Pharisee was nothing...and he did not humble to thank God for that, as without this he was in his sins...inspite of his good works.

The Pharesse only focus on his good works, and another time Jesus said be careful of the yeast of the Pharisees who boast in them selves in their own righteousness...and forget that as in the case of us who live after the Cross that without the death of Jesus  on the Cross we are nothing...we are in our sins inspite our exeplanary good works and upright living.

Jesus also touched on the Pharissean need to feel privileged that they are not the only ones worthy to God, and by comparing or JUDGING the others as unworthy, that they are not accepted by God because they are not up to their pedestals or level of self righteousness and thus  unworthy to be representatives of the forgiveness of their sins by faith alone in the blood of the Lamb of God....actually those vessels represent the Glory of Jesus Christ that inspite all that, the many things that could be used to Judge them, inspite of that, the still belong to Jesus and no one, not any a accusation can take them from him, and remove them out of his Life giving blood..

Note is taken to the following, that the requirements to be under the Life giving blood of Jesus Christ it is by faith alone...

The need to be in a certain place at a certain time, and have the eligibility to participate and any other requirements atouched to it like the specific time in the year is taken away...by faith alone it is any time, and any place, and everyone is eligible to participate without any prejudice to the gender.

This is because the sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins has already taken place...and continues to be valid and it will valid without end.

In this example the Publican was asking for his sins not to be considered against him, BY FAITH, because there was nothing in the Law that there is absolution of sins in this way...

According to the Law anyone to be included in the Day of the Atonement he had to met all the conditions of eligibility, and no unclean person according to the book of Leviticus was permitted to participate.

Without the eligibility of the day of the Atonement and the (animal) which to shed the blood for the Atonement sand the priest to make the absolution of sins in the Temple's Holy Place...

The Publican was not qualified to participate in their religious celebrations included the day of the Atonement.

The Publican was asking for Mercy against all the rules in the Law, was asking for something that was not available to him through the Law, and without the shedding of the blood of the sacrificial animal.

But Jesus still said that this man went home Justified...

We can consider that Jesus who happened to be present he had the power to forgive his sins as it happened without telling him in the way he said to others your sins are forgiven you, in their case without asking and while they were in a acceptance that for them it was to live their life in the condemnation of their sins..

But in this case this Republican against all odds he was asking God not to consider his sins against him by faith...

Jesus let the people know that he had granted this man his request....by this he identify himself who he really was...the Lord God Almighty the Lord worship on the Sabbath Day, the Creator of the world and Man...the Father of the Israelites...whom they worship in the Temple, but this time he was in the flesh as one born from Mary his Mother, this is no strange to say that when God in the Garden spoke of the seed of the woman, the Lord God knew that this saying it was about him, and no one else...no one else had the Life after Adam's disobedience but only him...

This cannot be strange to say that the time God made Adam and he looked at him, to say to himself that one day I will be like him, in the form of a man...

The other question is, did the Republican knew that Jesus had taken away the burden of his sins from him? Certainly he did because God gave him the witness that it had happened when the burden of his sins was lifted up from him  and he gave him the peace that comes with the absolution of his sins...he must had some witnesses from God as to remove the agony from him..in the same way the people were restored to their peace with God with the Baptism of John ,and without the shedding of blood in the Temple...

(and how strange was that, as John was a Priest and his job would be to do the Atonements for the forgiveness of the sins of the one who had brought a sacrifice in the Temple, with the blood of sacrifice.)

as in the old Covenant to be in Jerusalem in the Temple in Jerusalem the only Sanctified place by God...as long as this place was Sanctified any other place won't do...

....Luke 18:9-14

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Holy nation ? Look what happened after Peter wrote that verse ? God let the wicked Roman destroyed  and defeated Israel at 70AD battle and no wall of their socalled holy temple remains including their royal priesthood. God let it happened to punish their sins.

You misunderstood what Peter meant. It is the purpose of Gospel to make them holy nation if they repent and carry the cross to the finish so don't claim ourself holy we are far from being holy literally.

My my- that " royal priesthood" that you refer to,the Romans destroyed that Temple and those high priest did not even believe the promise of the seed to come or when Messiah came they did not believe the Word of God- no they did not. After Jesus Died ,& Rose on the 3rd day the still did not believe and they did not believe 70 yrs later

When Jesus hung on the tree the veil was torn......that should have been a clue

Peter uses language to describe " Relationship" with God in Christ as it was with God & Israel..... It was the Jews who were killed in 70ad..... Has nothing to do with Peters address to those who have accepted Messiah JJesu

No,that did not happen after Peter wrote that verse as you are insinuating -Peter did not live to see 70 ad and he was not speaking of the Jews that were killed or the Pharisees,Jewish high priests- it was an analogy

The first strange is about the Pharisee boasting in his own self righteousness...

This is by taking a look in himself and finding himself righteous that he has done this or that...but all that was not for the forgiveness of his sins, but rather not to do sins...his good behavior prevented him to do more sins...

But it was not all about himself...he did not acknowledge the Priesthood and the Lord of the Priesthood and the Lord who gave them the Law and the Day of the Atonement...

He forgot to acknowledge and thank God for that, and without that he would be in his sins...he forgot he had forgiveness of sins...he justified himself , without mentioning the Day of the Atonement..

By Judging others, believing that they were excluded and he was included...thinking that God wants to have children and he was the better and only choice...thinking that without him God will not have any children....

The same thing happens today with a lot of Christians,  looking at others and say where is their fruit, sure they are deceived to think that they are also belong to Jesus or that they believe...God does not accept them without their Fruit, like the Fharisse who was boasting in his plenty of Fruit...thinking that he is in the vine of the Lord, if not how he can have plenty of fruit...

Same thing happens to day, those with plenty of fruit they are severely Judging those without fruit according to them, which by the way is not according to Jesus Christ.

But it is not about the abundance or the lack of fruit, it is about what Jesus has done, that when we believe in him we are in the forgiveness of sins in his name shake...

And whether we have or do not have fruit we in the forgiveness of sins because we believe, by faith alone...in any state we find ourselves in...this is the power of the love of Jesus Christ for the world...to everyone who believes, this is it, Jesus is not going to condemn anyone who is under his blood...he cannot, no matter how we Judge the unworthy believers and how we call them with derogatory names and Judge them as unbelievers, and we see them lost, perhaps lost in their ways... but not lost to Jesus who knows they are his because he died for the forgiveness of their sins...

When you hear someone that has judged himself self as worthy expect to hear how he will next Judge the other sheep of Jesus who he believes they are not worthy...look at the derogatory names he has for them....but to Jesus they are his and not the Devils, and he will never disown them...no matter what we say about them...we say about them...

In one of the paragraph it was about Jesus who restored some people to righteousness by forgiving their sins...

One was the paralytic man whom they lower from the roof, and the other was the Paralytic man by the healing pool, to whom Jesus said that do not sin again because something worse might happen to you...

And also Jesus restored to righteousness the thief on the Cross, him also without asking...Jesus did those things before his death on the Cross .

If Jesus could do that for those people before the Cross, can anyone say that he cannot do that after the Cross?

If Jesus did that before the Cross, how much more he can do that after the Cross...

He did that for his own people as the disciples said: He came to his own!!!

And how much more he can do that to his own who are under his blood, to forgive our sins on his own without us first asking...

It was my misunderstanding that you insinuated that my original post about the fellow who beat his chest ect, was strange. What you appear to call strange is everything that happened in a variety of places in scripture.
