Guest Prakk
"God gave Adam only Eve."Anecdotal. You could stretch this to say all men should marry only women taken from their ribs or named Eve. It's not a righteous example until it's said to be one, and specificly said to be one because of their Monogamy, something that is never done or even hinted at."Look at all the conflict in the Bible that families had because of more then one wife."I know this sort of rationale has been passed around so long in the churches that it's believed. Do you know of one family about which we have any signifigant detail in which there was no strife? I'll wait for you to research that one."I don't think God ever entended for man to have more than one wife."Yes Betty, but this is what you think and no more. Guest Prakk
"You could be lying about the mormon thing. "I could also be George Bush and you could be the Queen of England. However, I am not lying and have taken the trouble of publishing my real name. I am an Orthodox Presbyterian at the moment, in that there are no PCA churches in Idaho Falls. I previously attended a PCA in Bozeman Montana. My salvation experience was at 13 years of age. I am a Scot and trace my Presbyterian heritage back over three generations. I am the grandson of a Southern Presbyterian minister. That's the little denomination out of which sprang Coral Ridge Presbyterian, one of the first PCA's and the home of Evangelism Explosion last time I checked. Did that sound a bit like the "I am a Pharisee! The son of a Pharisee!" speech to you or is it just me? Just to be clear, I think the LDS got it wrong, the "angel" they spoke to was named MORON. All sincerely LDS persons are on a "highway to hell." They don't believe in our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, the great "I am" and therefore the "Jesus" they worship is no son of God and incapable of saving them. Guest Prakk
"Not so. Jesus, in his discussion of divorce, made His opinion clear with one man, one woman."Boy you're close. Reread your post, "JESUS IN HIS DISCUSSION OF DIVORCE". Was the subject matter in the discussion monogamy? Are you implying that Genesis 2:24 which he refers to contains inherenent monogamy instructions? Guest Prakk
The argument for Polygyny Over a period of over a year, an ongoing discussion of Bibilcal Polygamy has been going on in various other forums. During that time one of those forums, such as http://www.christian-underground.com/ closed. The "CU" was where I started to discuss it on my own and I was vastly unpopular there as a result. In my search for other venues where the discussion might be going on, I found my good friend Don Dean, and it turned out he had been fighting a lonely battle of his own on the same topic. Initially since our ideas were so much alike, people thought we were invading their forums as a "tag team" when in fact we were still getting to know each other. Eventually we did become a team and this complete (and I humbly offer, irrefutable) argument was developed. None of this would have happened without Don, this is in large part, a tribute to his fearless loyalty to The Lord our God, and his written word. Don has since left this world to be with our Lord. Many people will say this is a frivolous argument as few peace seeking Christians would flaunt the laws of the land by taking other wives. I have several things to say in that area. One, in those nations promoting monogamy through law, there is still divorce, and the pattern of polygynous marriage leads to a better understanding of that unfortunate human necessity born of our sinful natures. The other is, you can get on a computer in Afganistan or Iran or any other nation in the world, and you can access this forum and others like it. It shows serious myopia to think that we in the west own this discussion. Polygyny is:"The condition or practice of having more than one wife at one time."Source: The American Heritage Edited November 14, 2005 by Prakk

Guest Prakk
" 'Thou shalt not buy a crack pipe' Ain't in the Bible either. Must be ok, right?"A wise guy? There are numerous admonitions regarding drunkeness. I leave it up to you to decide if they apply. As far as Polygyny goes, it is mentioned in the Bible and Crack Pipes, you are correct, are not specificly mentioned. There is considerable difference between the absence of condemnation regarding a widely practiced form of marriage and the lack of condemnation for something that hadn't even been invented yet.
