I was never a smoker so I do not have experience in the hardship of quitting. I do know that vaping is worse than most folks think. Perhaps the only thing that can help folks quit is to call on the Lord to help them. As for whether it is a sin or not, I think that is one of those grey areas where its a sin for some but not others. I dont like smoke and avoid smokers when I can (health issues), but I dont look down on folks who smoke.

Thanks for the compliment btw farouk

PS: @ayin jadeThe great preacher Spurgeon is supposed to have been a smoker; I don't see how this is supposed to have detracted from his most valuable ministry. (I read someplace that in parts of North America it was widespread - prior to the American Civil War - for women to smoke after church services.) I do think that a lot of the "moralizing" that goes on is actually more cultural.

During Spurgeon's time, I don't think we realized how destructive smoking was/is.  When I was young and started smoking I didn't hear people talking about it being harmful.   Most every adult I was around smoked something.

If you really want to quit, get to know someone very well who has stage 4 lung cancer and spend some time with them and watch them die.    It's very ugly.   I know several people who have stopped this way when family members died.

PS: @Not of the World I reckon I was thinking about the aspect of the person being able to cut down steadily on the amount of nicotine added to the vape.

(I'm not sure it's a "religious" thing, necessarily.)

Maybe try switching to a cigarette with less nicotine to get started??? :noidea:

Good points there; yes, see someone near and dear with lung cancer (one hopes it won't come to that): it concentrates the mind wonderfully.................

Ismoked and did lots of drugs when a teen. When the Lord rescued me, he took all that away that very day. No effort on my part. I was 19.

@Alive Sounds like quitting cold turkey worked for you...............
