I realized that what I wanted to post here wouldn't be appropriate what with all the experts that abound. About stolen valor, and the stats of fake Viet vets running about 6-7 to one actual vet, to milk the system, and the bleeding hearts.

Reality of what actually happened is unacceptable in a 'polite' society. This sounds just like what I heard/remembered when I finally returned home from my "proud service" to my country...Rotten eggs and tomatoes.  And some people best be careful talking about what some have been honored for in giving their life and limbs for their country, that they know nothing of. There is a huge difference in hearing about it and having lived it.

The trouble with a internet forum is you can't see my face right now.
Or know my heart, and what I'm thinking. Don't think it's gonna work, Dennis.
But thanks, we know.

I served in the Air Force 1980-1995, stationed in the US, (West) Germany, and UK.

Is there an Air Force motto equivalent to the Marine Semper Fi?

U.S. Air Force: “Aim High … Fly-Fight-Win”

US Army motto, “This We’ll Defend,”

U.S. Navy, technically does not have an official motto
the unofficial motto is “Non sibi sed patriae” – Latin for “Not self, but country,”

U.S. Marine Corps: “Semper Fidelis” – Always Faithful

U.S. Coast Guard: “Semper Paratus” – Always Ready

Good evening Sower. I was with the 3rd Marine Division, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, also at I Corp. Our base camp was in Quang-Tri, though we didn't spend much time there. Semper Fi Brother.

Sounds like you would have a lot of interesting experiences. I'm Canadian but I recognize the US Marines motto there...........

Yes, a lot of interesting experiences, many of which were traumatic, painful, life changing, and those that left scars. I tell people that I would never want to go there again, but at the same time I would not trade the experience for anything. I met a lot of good men there and some of the experiences that I went through, God has used to give me the gift of being empathetic towards others.

I've always wanted to visit Canada. I'm sure it is has amazing scenery.

Hi; I'm not a US citizen (Canadian actually) but I visited USAF Lakenheath years ago; and remember the SR71s stationed (either) there or Mildenhall...........

No I wasn't in the military. (Up here the politicians don't seem interested in paying for a significant military...)

I was in crash crew beginning in 68 at Barksdale AFB Second Air Command SAC in Shreveport, La.  Curious what year you saw an SR71?

Thanks cool. At my base we had many types of jets and many loaded with bombs.  the only ones that had security guards were the B52's each had two guards with M16 round the clock. In 69 an SR71 landed and it was the only time I saw security guards surround our Fire Truck and surround the Jet while it refueled we were protecting against fire.
