She's on the nest looking around.   They dragged an orange wire into the nest!

No, what do you mean?   Do you mean like a shadow inside the eggs?

Just checked, mom is awake, head up, but on the nest.    We are supposed to get really windy weather overnight and cold as well.   Nest is moving.

They say some areas that never get snow might get snow!

someone was zooming in the camera at what at first looked like a shadow but the closer the camera got the easier it was to see the chick inside the egg ( I know you can do it with incubated eggs and a strong light  but this was amazing to see ) :emot-highfive:

Oh my goodness it is 9am here so night time where you are and when I turned it on I thought the poor mum was dead as she was laying stretched out  and covered in snow :emot-fail:  She is moving a little now but what dreadful weather If the eggs hatched now I dont think either chick would survive :emot-fail:  :th_praying:

I just looked.   She managed to get the snow off of her and her head is up.   The wind is blowing her feathers.   She does look miserable, poor thing.

Usually our local news will let us know when the hatching is near.

The blog gives updates, too.

Here is an excerpt from the blog a couple of days ago....

"Yes, they were off the eggs for long periods of time for a few days and we do not know the impact on the eggs. As always, we will watch and see what they show us. Today is 39 days since the first egg was laid. In past years, when Jackie’s first egg hatched, it was on day 38. But again, we do not know what this means. Their time off the eggs may have only slowed the development. It is not our job to speculate or make predictions or set expectations or worry that things are different this time. It is our job to observe and learn from our beautiful bald eagles and whatever nature may have in store.

Thank you for your trust, your patience and your caring about the nature all around us.

Sandy"

Oh my goodness how on earth are they surviving in that ????  :emot-fail::th_praying:

I read that last year the chicks had hatched before this time  so maybe God held them back as I dont think they could survive what the weather is doing now :20:
