Is there any particular reason(s) for most Oklahomans to not support legalization? Edited March 8, 2023 by teddyv Typo

Is there any particular reason(s) for most Oklahomans to not support legalization? I spent some time in Oklahoma a good number of years ago. They didn't even allow the sale of alcohol there at the time, and when they did finally vote to legalize it each county was allowed to either allow or not allow its sale within the county, with both "wet" and "dry" counties. There was a strong religious influence in Oklahoma in those days, the ones just after the depression and the dust bowl. I imagine there are remnants of that influence still left there even today. I've personally seen benefits in those who have epilepsy, Parkinson's Disease, cancer...etc. Just for recreational use to get "high", I don't support it. It is still illegal here in Kentucky. THC in particular is a troublesome substance, so the negative effects of marijuana consumption are coming to light once more as reported by what some consider media sources who were sympathetic to decrimilization in the past. Is marijuana more dangerous than alcohol? No. Is THC dangerous for certain individuals to consume? Yes, as emerging data suggests. Marijuana consumption by people suffering from schizophrenia can have disastrous consequences due to the destabilizing effect activated THC exerts upon brain chemistry and function. As for myself, I steer clear of intoxicating substances. I understand why folks in Oklahoma voted "no."
