My favorite was working a mr softie ice cream truck. People in NY know this truck. So much fun making banana boats sunda and cones. I did work a temp job in NJ where I sorted rocks on a ladder two stories up. That's was bad but only did it for two days. Dennis had some really hard jobs. I didn't actually hate it, but it was nasty nasty nasty work, hard work under very trying conditions, yet it was work, and a service. I couldn't get work elsewhere as I was about to turn 18 and the Vietnam war was taking anyone that was 18 and single, so no one would hire me. But, I managed to get work, in a suit even, as I started at 17 years making removals "first calls" for a busy mortuary. Doing so often on coroner duty being called out late nights to peel the remains of humans out of the wreckage of vehicles and from other assorted accidents and crimes. Your job was and is a critical and unappreciated job most people are not equipped to handle, especially at such a young and impressionable age. I doubt a crowd was beating down any doors trying to get a position like the one you worked. I was in the same boat with my draft status. The best I could do was work part-time at a Clark gas station. I wasted many hours filling out an application for decent employment (i.e., car manufacturing plants, utility companies, union trade jobs, etc.). Once my active military service was completed, I figured I could quickly get a decent job; wrong! I liked the military, but not enough to make a career of active service (too much hurry up and wait). So, I elected to join the Army active reserves to keep my foot in the door. As you undoubtedly witnessed, service personnel were unpopular and frowned upon in that era. In addition, employers were required to excuse military reservists without prejudice for scheduled monthly drills, two-week summer camps, and when they were called up for active duty. I arranged the military funerals for many killed in action, involved to some degree no less than 169 times, working with the families and survivor assistance officers. So, I likely have unique take on that time. Perhaps that is for another time and another place if at all, than "what was your worst job?" . I'll simply say here "We", and I personally was very supportive, though I did get myself in career trouble when i arranged for a prominent local Rabbi to make the main speech at our 1969 Memorial Day ceremonies. He took opportunity to praise the dead and then rail against the government leaders and the war. It was a great speech overall honoring the warriors doing duty, but the fall out WOW! I just assumed most people had tanks like mine: clearly away from the house and at the end of my driveway with plenty of space to turn around. No modeling qualifying abilities do I possess, Slibhin, but I have done extensive re-modeling, homes/businesses. It can give a perspective of just how far some people can sink in their depravity, no self respect. Having to work outside mostly in the hot/cold wet/dry/ elements was occasionally depressing. But that strenuous demand on my body kept me fit. And very appreciative, considering... Another perspective........... Nope, all my teachers liked me and gave me special attention. My special seating arrangement was on an adult stool in the corner by the blackboard. I was popular and so well-liked they could not get enough of me. Spending countless hours of recess time and after school in my special place. My science project witnessed my teacher’s hair turning grayer by the hour. Teachers did not make enough money to go to a beautician to get their hair done.
