1 Corinthians

4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know,

not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power.

20 For the kingdom of God is not in logos but in power.

Faith In The Power

2:4 And my logos and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom,

but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Yes they didn't think Paul was coming and had become proud thinking Paul was afraid to face them. He told them he was coming provided the lord so directed. He would not be interested in their speeches but in their effectiveness , their power.  So the gospel is not mere theory but practice.

This could be used here or on any Christian forum. So many posts but do they live it? Yeah.. that's another story mostly words.

That's not true.  Paul never said "Gee, I'm so afraid of these people that I just can't go see them because I'm a coward"

Paul clearly stated that he was waiting on the Lord to lead him because this is how Christians should make decisions... based on whether the Lord is leading them to do stuff or not.

A brother at our fellowship breakfast last week said something that resonated with me.  He said, "They have the word of God, but do they have the Word of God?"  Meaning, they have the logos word, but do they promote Jesus Himself, the "Word of God"?

This prompted a discussion about how many times I've heard a radio or TV preacher say something like this: "The answers are in the bible, which is the word of God!  Just go to the bible and find your answer, then go about doing it and living it!"  Heard that many, many times.

But it's much rarer to hear something like, "Yes, there are answers in the written word of God, but be sure to connect with the Lord, who is actually the living Word of God!  He is the Author and Perfecter of your faith, He lives in you and will be the living Word in and through you if you let Him!"

Oh to hear that kind of speaking more often . . .

To get beyond "Lord and Savior" to Friend Indeed, where you speak "face to face",

word for word, from His mouth to yours. Then you are a lively Oracle!

Exodus 33:11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun,

a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

Young men should remain in devotion to the Lord until the time to step in for

the elders. Too many self-appoint themselves over others without regard for

the qualifications for elders laid out in the apostolic doctrine. Lack of accountability

in a fractured church is crippling the Holy Spirit of Unity, of One Body. [Ephesians 4:3-6}.

Deuteronomy 34:

9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom (see James 3:13-18),

for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him,

and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

10 But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses,

whom the Lord knew face to face.

So, how does a Christian address the Lord, the Holy Spirit face to face?

In the fellowship of the Saints!

Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

By faith, when we speak truth one to another, the Lord speaks, face to face.

Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 1:

5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.
