If it was an Israeli rocket it would be blamed on the Jews for firing it in the first place, if it was an Islamic rocket it would be blamed on the Jews for making them fire it. President Lyndon Johnson and SecState Dean Rusk both believed that it was indeed the Israelis that targeted the USS Liberty. They decided to keep quiet in order not to inflame the situation. Hollywood's portrayal of the events of 1967 in 'Steal the Sky' with Mariel Hemingway gives no real sense whatever of there being an Arab perspective even when portraying highly unscrupulous behavior on the part of the Israelis. But balance and objectivity during sanguinary conflict are likely to be the first casualties when dreadful things are done by both sides.
