The Book of Revelation is often divided into distinct sections based on its structure and themes. Here’s a common breakdown:

  1. Introduction (Chapter 1) – This section includes the prologue, greetings, and John’s vision of the glorified Christ.

  2. Letters to the Seven Churches (Chapters 2-3) – Messages from Jesus to seven churches in Asia Minor, addressing their strengths, weaknesses, and calls to repentance.

  3. Heavenly Throne Room and the Scroll (Chapters 4-5) – John’s vision of God’s throne and the Lamb (Jesus) who is worthy to open the sealed scroll.

  4. The Three Series of Judgments (Chapters 6-16) – This section contains:

    • The Seven Seals (Chapters 6-8)
    • The Seven Trumpets (Chapters 8-11)
    • The Seven Bowls of Wrath (Chapters 15-16)
    • Interludes that provide additional context and visions.
  5. The Final Battle and Judgment (Chapters 17-20) – This includes the fall of Babylon, the defeat of the Beast and False Prophet, the binding of Satan, and the final judgment.

  6. The New Heaven and New Earth (Chapters 21-22) – The vision of the New Jerusalem, eternal life, and the conclusion of Revelation.

  7. The Symbolism and Imagery in Revelation.

Revelation is packed with vivid, often mysterious symbols—the beasts, the dragon, scrolls, numbers, and cosmic battles—all of which contribute to its layered meaning. From the significance of the number seven (representing completeness) to the portrayal of Babylon as a corrupt power, these symbols serve as metaphors for spiritual truths, judgment, and divine redemption. Understanding Revelation through its symbolism provides insight into its theological and prophetic themes beyond just a sequential reading.

This structure helps readers navigate the complex imagery and themes of Revelation, which revolve around judgment, redemption, and the ultimate victory of God.

Revelation Chapter 1 serves as the introduction to the Book of Revelation, where the apostle John receives a divine vision while exiled on the island of Patmos. The chapter establishes the revelation of Jesus Christ, given to John to share with the seven churches of Asia.

Key Events:

  • Prologue (Verses 1-3): The book is introduced as a prophecy revealing what must soon take place. A blessing is promised to those who read, hear, and obey its words.
  • Greetings to the Seven Churches (Verses 4-8): John addresses the churches, offering grace and peace from God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ. Jesus is described as the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of kings.
  • John’s Vision on Patmos (Verses 9-11): John explains that he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day when he heard a loud voice instructing him to write down what he saw and send it to the seven churches.
  • The Vision of Christ (Verses 12-16): John turns and sees Jesus in His glorified form, standing among seven golden lampstands. He is described with white hair, eyes like fire, feet like bronze, and a voice like rushing waters.
  • Christ’s Assurance (Verses 17-20): John falls at Jesus’ feet, but Jesus reassures him, declaring “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.” He holds the keys to Death and Hades and instructs John to write what he has seen.

This chapter sets the stage for the prophetic visions that follow, emphasizing Christ’s sovereignty, power, and eternal nature

The Seven Churches of Revelation are addressed in Revelation 2-3, where Jesus delivers messages to seven Christian communities in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). These churches—Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea—receive commendations, warnings, and calls to repentance.

What is Made Known?

Each church represents different spiritual conditions and challenges:

  1. Ephesus – Commended for hard work and perseverance but warned for losing its first love.
  2. Smyrna – Encouraged to remain faithful despite persecution.
  3. Pergamum – Praised for holding fast to faith but warned against false teachings.
  4. Thyatira – Recognized for love and service but rebuked for tolerating corruption.
  5. Sardis – Criticized for being spiritually dead despite an outward reputation of life.
  6. Philadelphia – Identified as weak but commended for faithfulness and promised protection.
  7. Laodicea – Rebuked for being lukewarm, neither hot nor cold.

These messages serve as spiritual lessons for churches and believers today, urging them to remain faithful, avoid complacency, and uphold truth.

Typical Bible College teachings. a lot of waffle and avoidance of how any of it could actually affect us today.

I summarize Revelation with: Look out! It’s all going to happen and we should be aware and prepared for it. Be not in the dark as Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:3-4
Plainly; the first Five Seals were actioned at Christ’s Ascension, as per Revelation 5 and 6:1-11 and Zechariah 6:1-7

Proved by the terrible wars, famines and plagues we have experienced since then.

The Fifth Seal is obviously open and all the souls of the martyrs since Stephen are kept under the Altar in heaven.

Then the Sixth Seal: the terrible Day of the Lord's wrath, is the next prophesied event we can expect, with its dramatic cosmic and world shaking things prophesied, triggered by an attack upon Israel. Psalms 83, Micah 4:11-12

This worldwide disaster will cause the nations to combine in a One World Government, but we Christians will be motivated to go to and settle in all of the holy Land. We are seen there by John in Revelation 7:9-14 and when the Great Tribulation of the 7 Trumpets and 7 Bowls starts: in Daniel 7:25, Revelation 13:7 and in Revelation 12:14-17.  We see how some Christians are taken to a place of safety for those 1260 days, but the rest must remain in the holy Land while under the control of the 'beast', Revelation 13:5-7. Daniel 11:32-35 tells how the Lord’s people are divided at this time. Zechariah 14:1-2 describes this conquest.

All this information is given to us before it happens so we are without excuse if we fail to take note of and understand God's Plans for the end times. Amos 3:7, Revelation 1:1-3
The proof that we ARE in the end times, is all the time periods as given in the Bible up to the conquest of Judah by Babylon in 586 BC and from then until today: adds up to 5991 years, +/- 1 or 2 years.

People can argue against the truth of mankind being given 6000 years to rule themselves and then Jesus will rule for 1000 years, however; this decreed time can be plainly discerned from the Bible. The Creation as per Genesis 1, models this period.
The fact is that there were exactly 2000 years from Adam to Abram, another 2000 years; Abraham to Jesus, so it is logical to assume there will be 2000 years of this Christian era to complete, which will finally demonstrate our inability to self rule. The reign of Jesus for the final 1000 years will show that His rule of benevolent dictatorship is the best form of Government.

Many just don't study the Book of Revelation because of self-proclaimed experts who impose their interpretations on its contents, but that doesn't mean the contents of the Book of Revelation shouldn't be presented chapter by chapter, verse by verse, and word by word, to be edified and encouraged with the promised blessing as follows:

Rev 1:3  Blessed is the one who reads and hears the Words of this prophecy, and the ones keeping the things written in it, for the time is near.

Revelation 4 and 5 present a powerful vision of God’s throne room and the worship of the Lamb, offering deep theological insights.

Revelation 4: The Throne Room of God

This chapter describes God seated on His throne, surrounded by 24 elders and four living creatures. Common interpretations include:

  • God’s sovereignty: The throne symbolizes His supreme authority over creation.
  • The 24 elders: Often understood as representatives of the redeemed—either the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 apostles or a symbolic group of faithful believers.
  • The four living creatures: Representing different aspects of God’s nature—a lion (power), an ox (service), a man (intelligence), and an eagle (sovereignty).
  • Worship and holiness: The creatures continually praise God, declaring, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty” (Rev. 4:8), emphasizing His eternal nature.

Revelation 5: The Worthy Lamb

This chapter shifts focus to Jesus Christ, depicted as the Lamb who was slain:

  • The sealed scroll: Represents God’s plan for redemption, which only Christ can open.
  • Jesus as the Lamb: His sacrificial death makes Him worthy to execute God’s will and bring salvation.
  • Universal worship: All creation praises Jesus, acknowledging His victory over sin and death.

These chapters emphasize God’s majesty, Christ’s victory, and the call to worship. They remind believers of God’s ultimate plan and the central role of Jesus in salvation

Revelation doesn't need expert interpretation. the imposition of peoples wild imaginations.

Give us a good reason why Revelation should not be fulfilled just as it is Written. Excepting the obvious allegories; which can be easily explained.  We HAVE had the literal wars, famines and plagues of the first four Seals, the Fifth Seal proves it is operational, by all the Christian martyrs since Stephen.

NOW; the Sixth Seal will be Gods solution to the crisis in the Middle East.  Wait for the Day.... Zephaniah 3:8

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
