You should try street preaching some time. I know it sounds intimidating, but it really helps you to grow in the faith as well. Just get some good tracts, and share as much as you know. If you don't have all the answers, just be honest with people, and then get into the Word and find the answers so that you can share that truth with the next person who asks. You'll be amazed at how fast you can grow if you get out there and do something for the Lord.

Mr SE

I have a question about street preaching. Where do you find people on streets anymore? They are all in cars and buildings. How do you do street preaching? And, what have you found to be its effectiveness?

There's usually a street preacher or two in the middle of the town I live in. The area is all pedestrianised so there's no worries about people being in cars or anything.

I think it can be effective, especially if it's reaching someone who hasn't been brought up in a Christian family and doesn't know about God or Jesus and what He has done for us but, on the other hand, some street preachers who can be quite intimidating and too forceful(there's a few in London like this), which does more harm than good.

Dear Daniel

I commend you for your enthusiasm for the Lord and ministry. The more you get involved, the faster you will mature as a Christian. A website is a good start, I started one at bravehost as well. I use mine to offer topical Bible studies on different issues, and have found that has definately helped me to grow in my faith. You should try street preaching some time. Mr SE

Thank you Mr SE, I would be interested to take a look at your topical bible studies, do you use the forum for this?

I have a couple of friends who street preach in the nearby town, I agree that it helps you to grow in faith. I know a time will come when many more people will be doing so as the prophecies are fullfilled, however I do agree that effective evangelism does come from more personal relationships giving people the chance to see you in action as it were, and wanting to change because of it.

I cant help think that street preaching isnt as effective as we would like, as the majority dont listen and those that want to listen dont want to be seen doing so, meaning only a select few are drawn in, most of which are christians already. Its great character building but do you not think there are better ways to spread the word? Any other ideas?

Our downtown is dead, people are not out on our streets, and I was stopped from witnessing at the local mall because I was offending people with the message. I don't work outside the home presently, we live in an apartment community that restricts us from door to door witnessing to our neighbors, I've joined local charitable organizations in hopes of witnessing opportuntities there, too, and most of them restrict witnessing, too, or have their own agenda, but I do hand out tracts to sales clerks and wait staff. Most of my one on one contacts are with Christians. I am going to take more classes at our local community college next semester, but even when I took classes before and tried witnessing to people, there was limited time and either people were not interested or they already had accepted Christ. But, I'm going to try it again, because there are many people on a college campus. I'm old (55) so young people don't always want to listen to an old lady, but we do have a ministry to college students in our home that has been sucessful for the past seven years.

I've had a fruitful ministry over the past forty years in teaching the Bible, in music ministry, in ministries of helps and encouragement, in administration, in counseling, etc., but I really want to be a more effective witness to non-believers, but am frustrated over the lack of open doors. So, I'm looking for ways I can witness out there in the world.

Im pleased to see that you have kept the enthusiam. I too am frustrated by the lack of encouragement and help in providing ways of witnessing for God in a productive manner!

I am young, and have been looking into such things as missionary work. I want to do more for God and dedicate my time to Him. But I think that God will make it clear when He is calling me to do something. And only then will that be the right path for me!

So i think its a case of studying, learning and becoming closer to God until I become clear on what action to take!

I believe you have a good point. Though we are all called to be witnesses for Christ and to go and make disciples, it is true that everything comes in God's perfect timing. Sometimes all we can do is plant seed and wait until the harvest. I believe there is going to be a great harvest of souls this coming year. It gets discouraging sometimes when doors keep closing, but I know God is in control and when the time is right, we will see many people come to Jesus.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
