I wish these were my own thoughts, but I'm not quite so creative. However, I found these thoughts so intriguing I felt like sharing. I hope you don't mind.

I was reading the inside jacket for the CD A COLLISION or (3 + 4 = 7) by the David Crowder* Band.

On the front cover is a picture of a boy looking up at a picture of the classic picture of an atom. He explains elsewhere how this picture is symbol of an atom but not how it actually works or looks. In the same way our elements of worship are inadequate but this is what we have to carry the idea. (That could be a discussion on its own, couldn't it?).

But going back to reading the inside jacket. These are David Crowder's words before the songs begin:

It all started with a book from the early 60's acquired by my wife from an antique shop in downtown Chicago. That, and a conversation with a very intelligent acquaintance of mine who is currently finishing his PhD work in superstring theory, and who happened to mention in very whimsical tone one sunny Texas afternoon that we were, and I quote, "...walking around in the sky..." He said this while pointing to nothing in particular, "...you see, there is ground and there is sky and we are somewhere in between. We're walking around in it. Our feet are on the fround but..." - wait. I'm getting ahead of myself. Like I said, it started with a book: "The story of Atomic Energy"...

So, I tried to pay attention to the lyrics of the songs in light of this train of thought. I'm not sure I get it all, but I can see a couple things.

I am full of earth. You are heaven's worth. I am stained with dirt, prone to depravity. You are everything that is bright and clean, the antonym of me. You are divinity. But a certain sign of grace is this: From the broken earth flowers come up pushing through the dirt. You are holy....

And the truest sign of grace was this: From wounded hands redemption fell down, liberating man. But the harder I try the more clearly can I feel the depth of our fall and wight of it all. And so this might could be the most impossible thing: Your grandness in me making me clean...

I am wholly Yours

The breaking makes a sound I never knew could be so beautiful and loud, fury filled and we collide...a beautiful collision...where You and I collide...something circling inside, spaciously you fly, infinite and wide, like the moon and the sky collide...

At the end of the songs, David continues with these thoughts:

"...For the past two years we have ended most nights in concert with the following statement:

'When our depravity meets HIs divinity it is a beautiful collision.' This recording is about that collision. It is the collision of our fallen state and our Maker's transcendence. It is a rendering of our mortality and eternal life.

It is about the tension that exists in the living of life, here, where the sky meets the broken earth. It is about a tsunami in East Asia. It is about a sunrise over Hiroshema. It is about too many who know intensely what pain the word "cancer" holds and whe words of my friend whispered in my ear, "It's okay. None of us are getting out of here alive you know." It is about victory. It is about the joy that comes when blood tests return and a miracle is announced. It is the hope in a rescue that has come, the hope in a rescue that has found us, and the relentless hope in a greater rescu that is still coming - one that has not yet arrived but is no less present. This music, broken, improper and inadequate in its response is rooted in that hope.

The Kingdom of Heaven is here and now and coming."

It was then I finally figured the (3 + 4 = 7) alternate title to the album.

The number 3 is symbolic for God.

The number 4 is symbolic for man.

The number 7 is symbolic for perfection.

A beautiful collision!

Yeah - whatever.

It hurts me, it hurts you

All the foolish things that we do

What hurts you should hurt me

If we're one body

Like we claim to be

I've had enough.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
