Many people are intimidated by the book of Revelation and prophetic Scripture through out the canon, but particularly the last book of the Bible. Most never tackle the subject, many pulpits never bring it up. As a result what kind of Christian does non-exposure to eschatology create?

Many have trouble with the OT as well. If we omit anything in the complete counsel of God from our lives, we will not understand His entire will for us

The only book of the Bible that offers a blessing for the person that studies it...

Revelations 1:3

3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

What is the blessing promised?

It's important to study the book of Revelation but it's also important to study the other 65 books of the bible too. I've been reading through the bible and it seems to me that things come together a lot better when we "look at the big picture" so to speak.

The Worthy famous IMHO... The last thing the world saw was Jesus seemingly defeated and hanging on a cross. His post-resurrection appearances were only to believers. Revelation shows Jesus not as "a man aquainted with sorrows and bruised for our iniquities" but shows Him as King and righteous judge. Not the messenger of only grace but the vengeance of judgment. If a person avoids Revelation they have a partial picture of who Christ is. The reason the book is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ. To understand Him who was, and is, and is to come is the central idea of the text in my estimation. Partial understanding leads to comments such as the God of the Old Testament is not the same God of the New Testament. That Jesus Christ message was tolerance....etc...

Revalation has always fascinated me, however, things like the ten horns and the whore of Babylon etc. has been fodder for much speculation, so I can't say that I've been terribly enlightened by it. All I know for sure is Jesus is coming back soon and the enemy will be sent packing. I will appreciate the peace when it comes. :emot-pray:

to the best of my knowledge, the blessing in revelation, chapter-1, verse-3, is not specified.

That is where you step back and ask yourself what is the message of the book. It is the unveiling of Jesus' and His total character and what He has been up to from the beginning. The blessing is understanding that so our faith is built to the point of unshakeableness regardless of what is going on around us.

If you want a good understanding of Revelation, check out the link in my sig. I was cluesless as to end-time events until I started to study it and what I've discovered is how beautifully the Bible is written. To see how Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelation fit together is enough to make anyone have to seriously consider how anyone could possibly doubt that the Word of God could be anything but, the living Word of God.
