This topic is intended to be an opportunity for us to discuss and learn the proper rules of interpretting Scripture. From the looks of things lately, this is HIGHLY needed. It seems that people will go to great lengths to make Scripture state what they want it to state...even if they have to violently destroy the inherent meaning of words. People will claim that God told them something, or that they experienced something, and EVEN THOUGH IT CONTRADICTS SCRIPTURE, they will be applauded and encouraged. "God told me this, so you can't question it!" is the basic attitude and anyone opposing it...even gently...is seen as unspiritual, prideful, arrogant, etc. I've also seen people repeatedly try to use concordances or lexicons when they have not been taught (or studied) how these things should be properly used. In my opinion, this is like handing a dangerous weapon to a child. They wield these words around like toys, not fully understanding the power behind them, and they use them improperly to assert things that are not biblical at all. This can cause great damage.

This is why I'm opening this topic. I would like, in particular, to hear from those who have studied this extensively, who can offer us some wisdom and instruction on how the Word of God should be rightly divided. I'm extremely troubled by the way the Scriptures are often mishandled and manipulated. Please, if you have some wisdom to share and can teach us how to study correctly, please share it with is. I am humbly asking that you correct where any of us may be wrong, and show us a more biblical approach. Thank you!

Eh, if I had waited 30 minutes, I wouldn't have even posted this. I don't think there are many people who honestly care about this topic.

The people who do care, who want to learn, and want to use God's Word correctly will only be attacked, accused, ridiculed and labeled unloving or unkind if they attempt to use God's Word correctly. So I don't know if it's even worth discussing it here anymore. It seems alot of people would rather have friends, be 'encouraging', have unity and the appearance of love and humility...than actually be humble enough to receive truth or loving enough to admonish others with it. It's too risky to correct someone when they are wrong, even if you do so gently. You certainly won't make alot of friends doing it. I suppose it's worth it if even one person receives it, but fair warning...you'll likely be rejected by the majority to do so.

This is a problem, however the information is available on the board for those who wish to read it. Personally, if everyone who honestly wanted to study hermaneutics ignored the people that came in to harass, perhaps they would go away or at least be shown for what they are doing. I should do that more often, but I'm a hothead and just have to get the last word in. I know it's a sin and it's hard since I'm wired that way, was raised by people this way and my gifts require me to stand up to a point. So, anyway, I'm willing to try regardless of what people are gonna say.
