I mean, isn't the reason that they are there, to worship the Lord. Even in some of my worship CD's that I own, the crowd starts screaming and yelling. I don't get it!!! I thought we were to glorify the Lord with our music and worship, not the people performing!!!! Please give me your feedback and tell me how you voted and why. Thanks, JIME

I am always excited to see bands come on stage, although I know it is completely about the Lord.

I don't see anything wrong with cheering for someone you like, no matter what they are doing, if they do a good job and you enjoy their work I think it is fine to "glorify the people performing." As far as the purpose of a Christian concert, I'd have to say it is largely dependant on the hearts of the people in the audience and in the band and probably varies from concert to concert. There is nothing wrong with excitement and exuberance among the listeners. In fact, it should be that way!

Idolatry is. It isn't wrong for people to sing and use their gives to entertain others (as long as what they sing doesn't glorify sin). Neither is it wrong for people who enjoy these gifts to praise, celebrate and encourage them. There just needs to be a balance. Those who are gifted in the arts have a responsibility to avoid allowing others to idolize them (which is very hard when fame is involved). However, you cannot control what another person feels in their heart. It is up to each individual him or herself not to offer worship to anyone but the Lord. Glorifying God and evangelism can take place while making money at the same time. It isn't wrong to make money. It isn't wrong to use your talents to make money either. JIME, were you asking what we thought the motives of these artists were? Or were you asking what should be their motives?

I don't think there is one specific answer to this question, perhaps some Christian musicians have concerts to spread the word, and others have them to make money. I would be willing to bet that the majority of Christian musicians hold concerts to make money, so I voted accordingly.
