Guest idolsmasher
Queen?? I take this to mean she thinks very highly of herself! That fits. Known no sorrow?? It doesn't say "known no sorrow" but shall see no sorrow. I take this to mean she thinks she will never be defeated. Both of these suggest she thinks that she will continue to maintain her position of power and riches and have the world's obeisience and servitude continually. The same could have been said for Greece and the Roman Empire, you know. And you have yet to explain how the "Mother of harlots and abominations" fits in with the USA and all that. As I said before, in the Bible, the great nations are symbolized by beasts. In Rev. 17, the Harlot is riding a beast. The US isn't riding on the other nations. Our status as a world power was paid for with our own blood, sweat and tears. If the US is a part of the beast, then so be it - but the harlot? That's wishful thinking, really. Guest yod
Yes...wasn't it earlier in this thread? "Mystery" was term in use by the Greeks during those days which spoke of spiritual myteries or religious systems. For instance, Paul referred to the church as a "mystery" in the Old Testament which had been revealed in the New. "Mystery Babylon" would have been understood in that day to be a religious system based on Babylon. Babylon had a Sun God, a Madonna and child called Simeramis and Tammuz, and various idols and obelisks which became steeples. When God spread the people out and confused their language, these "mysteries" took on new names. That's why you can find such similarity in ancient mystery religions. They have the same idols but with different names. Adonis is Diana is Horus is Simmeramis is whatever.... Who does that sound like???

No, it was a thread about asking if Jerusalem was Babylon in a different forum - that got deleted.
