You click on their name and a little drop down menu...well.... drops down. One of the choices is to add the person as a friend. Oh! btw...have I graduated into the silly group yet If they e-mailed you, you should be able to click on their name and it will take you straight to their profile, then look under the "profile picture" if they have one and add them to your friends.
