  1. Hugs dear sister, be blessed. Only God knows what is in the heart of your son. Much love to you.
  2. A couple of us have already pointed that out as well
  3. Must.... bite... tongue....... Pick.... and choose.... my battles.... gggaagggagakkckckak Please, don't turn this into one of your debates, if you had a family member with mental illness, this wouldn't be funny to you. And if you notice she said, that verse wasn't really about this issue. I have two mentally ill family members. A cousin with downs syndrom and a half brother with dabilitating autism. I noticed what she said, she said contextually its about salvation, but she thinks it applies here too. You simply cant do that. I brought it to light without changing the subject. I dont want to debate about it. LoL i think you will agree that we've done our fair share of scripture interpretation debating. Neither downs syndrome nor autism are mental illnesses, though often they co-occur with mental illness. Just wanted to clear that up before someone thinks a developmental intellectual disability or a developmental neurological disorder are mental illnesses. My ex-husband has a severe mental illness, currently untreated, and I could not appreciate Vickilynn's OP more! I pray for him daily. Love and forgiveness (even if for my own walk with God) has brought me through so much with him. It is such a struggle for me - when he is getting treatment, he is one of the kindest, gentlest Christ-followers. But now, I pray daily for the spark of Holy Spirit that I know dwells in him to push push push him back toward God and a peaceful, undestructive state of being.
  4. I've always loved the thought of the mid/late 1800's out west - I know it comes from growing up watching Little House on the Prarie.. I sooooo wanted to be Laura Ingalls!
  5. Thank you so much for all that you do as an admin! I don't chat often, but when I have, it is such a comfortable, blessed place to be - and I know that is due to the hard work of the admins!
  6. My 2 cents worth (possibly only worth a penny after taxes).... I have a dear, dear sister in Christ who is Charasmatic. She and I have talked often about her experiences with the Holy Spirit. Bottom line for me, I know her faith is strong, and I know she is a beloved daughter of the King and worships Him in the way she feels He is most glorified. I think she is blessed by it, even if I have my own doubts about what she is experiencing. Even if I believe that it is an emotional reaction... what does it matter - I know she is filled with the Holy Spirit, so if her emotional reaction takes her to that level of intensity, I feel she is honoring and worshiping God.
  7. New information for me. Thanks for posting!
  8. Hmmmm... I recommend some sort of incredible-shrinking-ray to get all the stuff in the van I know the feeling though, my daughter has a disability and packing her stuff along with all the other hoopla that goes into what we think we will need is always a challenge. As far as the water and the winter, I hope someone else can give you more knowledgable advice. When it gets really cold here, we leave a faucet dripping, but you wouldn't want to do that for a month. I'm not sure that turning the water off would keep the pipes from busting.... but I really don't know what I'm talking about there. As far as movies, it's been a while since I had a 4 year old, but I always recommend taking something that will not drive the adults nuts in the process - like Finding Nemo, Mulan, etc... Musicals are good too, so you can all sing along as you watch them over and over and over and over and over.... again.
  9. Amen! What a beautiful testimony. Thank you so much for sharing.
  10. Welcome to Worthy! Pray pray pray! God is right there with you, whatever is happening in your life right now.
  11. Very nice, Theopolitan- takes a person who is listening to the Holy Spirit to do that publically. I applaud you
  12. Smalcald - I am always blessed by your posts. Thank you
  13. And so, I believe you have to accept him AS God to claim a salvation that can only come THROUGH God. The bible does not say that, like I said I believe Jesus to be God in the flesh. But you can not go around putting words in Gods mouth that he did not say,You can not tell him who, why,or how he is to justify someone. I used to believe that we must confess Jesus as God to be saved, and I searched the scriptures to find proof of this,I could not find it.Therefore I will not tell God who,how or why he should justify some one. Any thing that the bible does not say should not be taught as absolute truth. But Jesus does say: "I am the way the truth and the life; NO MAN cometh unto the Father BUT BY ME." -- Jesus Christ, John 14:6 So, I can't see how to have one (God the Father) without believing in the other (Jesus). And: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Maybe I am missing something in the intent of the post. I apologize if I am jumping in out of context.
  14. We can use all of the smilies that are on the left (and if you click "show all" there are bunches). Do you see the smilies themselves, or do you see the text words? I saw a smile in your original post.... Do you see cool guy with sunglasses, or do you see : cool : (only without the spaces)?
  15. She's a Christian? A friend? She must have some real issues going on within herself to spend so much time in tearing other Christ followers down rather than building them up. Pray for her!
  16. ehhh. I would have to know the financial situations & lifestyles of the families to comment on the expense. If they've got the money and it will not create hardship and they are not going into debt - it would be hard for me to say anything against it. i mean, there are a zillion things better to do with the money. And if my parents had that kind of money to spend - personally, if it were me, I would rather it go toward a house, etc. But I've never understood big weddings and the expense. I agree that it is not an ideal situation with their age and him leaving and her going to school, etc.... but hopefully their parents have counseled them and I pray they are involved in a good church home and are Christ-followers. Young love.... what-r-ya-gonna-do
  17. No. Faith (where salvation is concerned) is believing unto righteousness (Rom. 10:10). Obedience is the outworking of salvation and the evidence of faith. Shiloh, your statement was very helpful to me. Thank you!
