Must.... bite... tongue....... Pick.... and choose.... my battles.... gggaagggagakkckckak Please, don't turn this into one of your debates, if you had a family member with mental illness, this wouldn't be funny to you. And if you notice she said, that verse wasn't really about this issue. I have two mentally ill family members. A cousin with downs syndrom and a half brother with dabilitating autism. I noticed what she said, she said contextually its about salvation, but she thinks it applies here too. You simply cant do that. I brought it to light without changing the subject. I dont want to debate about it. LoL i think you will agree that we've done our fair share of scripture interpretation debating. Neither downs syndrome nor autism are mental illnesses, though often they co-occur with mental illness. Just wanted to clear that up before someone thinks a developmental intellectual disability or a developmental neurological disorder are mental illnesses. My ex-husband has a severe mental illness, currently untreated, and I could not appreciate Vickilynn's OP more! I pray for him daily. Love and forgiveness (even if for my own walk with God) has brought me through so much with him. It is such a struggle for me - when he is getting treatment, he is one of the kindest, gentlest Christ-followers. But now, I pray daily for the spark of Holy Spirit that I know dwells in him to push push push him back toward God and a peaceful, undestructive state of being. -
I've always loved the thought of the mid/late 1800's out west - I know it comes from growing up watching Little House on the Prarie.. I sooooo wanted to be Laura Ingalls!

Thank you so much for all that you do as an admin! I don't chat often, but when I have, it is such a comfortable, blessed place to be - and I know that is due to the hard work of the admins!

My 2 cents worth (possibly only worth a penny after taxes).... I have a dear, dear sister in Christ who is Charasmatic. She and I have talked often about her experiences with the Holy Spirit. Bottom line for me, I know her faith is strong, and I know she is a beloved daughter of the King and worships Him in the way she feels He is most glorified. I think she is blessed by it, even if I have my own doubts about what she is experiencing. Even if I believe that it is an emotional reaction... what does it matter - I know she is filled with the Holy Spirit, so if her emotional reaction takes her to that level of intensity, I feel she is honoring and worshiping God.

Hmmmm... I recommend some sort of incredible-shrinking-ray to get all the stuff in the van I know the feeling though, my daughter has a disability and packing her stuff along with all the other hoopla that goes into what we think we will need is always a challenge. As far as the water and the winter, I hope someone else can give you more knowledgable advice. When it gets really cold here, we leave a faucet dripping, but you wouldn't want to do that for a month. I'm not sure that turning the water off would keep the pipes from busting.... but I really don't know what I'm talking about there. As far as movies, it's been a while since I had a 4 year old, but I always recommend taking something that will not drive the adults nuts in the process - like Finding Nemo, Mulan, etc... Musicals are good too, so you can all sing along as you watch them over and over and over and over and over.... again.
