A DNA analysis shows Neanderthals share with humans two key changes in the FOXP2 gene known to be involved in speech, raising the possibility the species possessed some prerequisites for language, the researchers said. http ://www.freerepublic.com/%5Ehttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071018/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_neaderthals_speech once again things are a'changin' - it could be every day for all we know - who can keep up with it all

The assumption that Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens Sapiens (us) are of the same species has pretty much been debunked. See link.... http://www.jqjacobs.net/anthro/paleo/neanderthal.html There is no evidence that the Neanderthals contributed to our gene pool. They didn't successfully interbreed because they were not of the same species! They may, however, have had rudimentary speech. Scientists always write of the 'sudden appearance' of modern man; um, well we knew that already from the Bible.

If there is no evidence where do you get this assumption from.

They had speech, buried their dead, used tools, cooked with cookware, lived in huts that were sometimes located in caves. What's not human about them. Take a good look at the girl in this picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neanderthal I know someone that looks like this. If she were living today no one would notice that she was 'subhuman'. I am sure if pygmies had died out thousands of years ago (or millions based on evolutionary dating methods) they would have been considered less than human as well because of their size. I heard a quote from an evolutionist that said that if a Neanderthal was shaved, bathed and dressed in modern clothes he would blend in on a New York Subway. I think they were just a different race. More on that from Wikipedia. Aside from skin color however, which despite the above could also arguably be included, the majority of apparent difference in human physical appearance around the world, or what may also be called racial features, can also be explained through the process of regional sexual selection of relatively recent evolutionary origin.[33] The full article here.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recent_single_origin_hypothesis I mean if we know that the differences in bone structures in today's humans can be accounted for by race, why not the subtle differences in the Neanderthal? Oh yeah, because it doesn't fit with evolution.

I don't believe humans ever lived hundreds of years but in the future they might if cleaning of cells by nanobots ever becomes a reality.
