I don't remember the gentleman who brought this topic up but I'm quite sure when he sees what I've found after it's explained he'll come foward to debate again. This gentle brought this topic up apporx 5 months ago , or so and challanged us all to find anywhere in the Bible that stated anything referencing the "Eternal Fires" and the fact that anyone doomed with satan and the demons in Hell would suffer the "Eternal Fires of Hell." This gentleman claimed that the only fires that the Bible ever spoke on was the "Lake of Fires that sinners would pass though and then end up in HELL with no eternal Flames. Well SURPRISE! Matthew 26: 41 Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, " Away with you, you cursed ones, into the ETERNAL FIRE prepared for the Devil and his demons! For I was hungry, and yu didn't feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn't give me anthing to drink. I was a stanger, and you didn't invite me into your home . I was naked, and you game me no clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me. then skip down to.....26:45 And he will answer, I assure you when, you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me. 46. And they will all go away into ETERNAL PUNISHMENT, but the righteous will go into eternal life."

Well, I don't know about you all , but that's enough "Eternal" information for me to witness about the "Eternal fires" in Hell for those who do not obey God!

My boss and I discussed this briefly yesterday. As I remember it, Hell and the lake of fire are two very different things. As I recall, after the Millennial reign, Satan and Hell will both be thrown into the lake of fire. I'm pretty sure this is what it says but I could be reading it wrong.

Thanks Danny, but the main theme of this question is, "Is the lake of fires ETERNAL or will all who are doomed also be tormented in the "Hell of Fires" for an eternity? The Lake Of Fires does not talk about it being permanent. Read the Script I gave from Matt.....

Thanks brother

Correct. Hell is a temporary detention center, w hich itself does involve flame and torment. Its sort of like a criminal who is awaiting trial for murder. He is held in jail or released on bond under house arrest, depending on the situation, until the trial is finished.

Once the great white throne judgement is finished, all of the unredeemed, both from those who rejected God during the millenium and those who rejected God beforehand and were found in hell, including hell itself, will be thrown into the "Lake of Fire" along with the devil. Incidently, the "man" called antichrist along with his false prophet are apparantly the first two individuals thrown in there, about 1000 years before anyone else.

Now the Lake of Fire is a place of eternal torment, make no mistake about that.

Rev. 20:10, "...For ever and ever...."

and so on. T here is also a passage where Jesus spoke, I believe its in Mark's Gospel, where he says the fire is not quenched like 4 times in one paragraph.

Then please explain Matt.'s description of "eternal fires" that demons and satan will suffer in . The complete scripture/verse is referenced in my initial topic.

Thanks for responding

There are five departments in the underworld of departed Spirits mentioned in the Bible. Not one of these places is associated with or is the grave where bodies are buried.

One). Paradise; In Luke 16:19-31; 23:43, we have pictured total comfort and water in this prison because the rich man saw Lazarus afar off in comfort and bliss and asked him to dip his finger in water and cool his tongue (Luke 16:19-31). This was the abode of the righteous souls from Adam after dying and leaving their bodies, being held captive by the devil against their wills till Christ's death and resurrection (Heb. 2:14-15; Eph. 4:7-11). Before Jesus Christ conqured the power of death and Hell, the devil had these powers. (Col. 2:14-17; Heb. 2:14-15; Rev. 1:18).

It was into this prison the repentant thief went with Christ the day they both died (Luke 23:43). This prison is located in the heart of the Earth as is clear from Matt. 12:40 and Eph. 4:7-11. Jesus not only went into this prison but He also went into another prison, "Tartarus," and preached to the fallen angels being held there in their own special prison. Jesus having conqured Hell and death and the grave during His crucifiction and during the three days He was in the underworld, He captured all the righteous souls that were in Paradise and took them to Heaven when He ascended on high (Eph. 4:7-11). Jesus now has the keys to Hell and death (Rev. 1:18).

Two). Tartarus; This prison is the special prison for the fallen angels that sinned both before and after the flood. There is nothing recorded in Scripture that teaches demons or human beings ever go into this prison. In these passages it is clear that there is a real Hell that is not the grave and that Spirit beings are confined in chains until judgment (1 Pet. 3:19; 2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6-7).

Three). Hell itself; (Matt. 16:18; Luke 16:19-31). This is the torment part in the unseen world and was, still is, and will yet be the abode of all the wicked souls and spirits of men from Able to the end of the Millennium. Then, at this time all the wicked will be liberated out of this prison and will be given their own immortal bodies and be judged before being cast into the "lake of fire" forever (Rev. 20:11-15; 21:8).

Four). The Bottomless Pit or Abyss is the abode or prison of demons and certain angelic beings. No human being is ever thrown into the abyss. It is a very deep chasm in the lower parts of the Earth. It is translated "deep" (Luke 8:26-31; Romans 10:7) and "Bottomless Pit" in Rev. 9:1-3, 11; 11:7; 17:8; 20:1-10). All these Scriptures prove that there are prisons in the lower parts of the Earth for departed sinning spirits, and they are not and could never be the same as a grave on the surface of the Earth.

And Five). The Lake of Fire, is the eternal Hell and perdition of wicked men, demons, fallen angels, and all rebellious creatures of all ages who have ever rebelled against God, and who have refused to repent when they could have. It is called "The Gehenna of Fire" and is always translated Hell (Matt. 5:22, 29, 30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15, 33; Mark 9:43-45, 47; Luke 12:5; James 3:6). This prison is also called "the second death, which is the lake of fire" (Rev. 2:11; 20:6, 14). This final Hell was prepared for the devil and all his angels (Matt. 25:41-46), and for all other rebells, and it is ETERNAL in duration (Rev. 14:9-14; 20:10-15; Isa. 66:22-24; Matt. 25:46). There is no record in Scripture of anyone being the lake of fire at present. Scripture does show that the beast and the false prophet will be the first to be cast into it. This will happen before the Millennium (Rev. 19:20). They will still be there 1,000 years later when the devil and all other rebells will be cast into it (Rev. 20:10-15).

Scripture shows that there will be degrees of punishment in Hell as far as remorse and torment of the conscience is concerned (Matt. 10:15; 11:22; 12:41; 23:14; Mark 6:11; 12:40; Luke 10:14; 11:31, 32; 20:47). These degrees of punishment will be because of the kind of sins comitted by one that were not comitted by another. No man will be punished or could have remorse over something he did not do. They will all regret rebelling against God and man and failing to believe in Jesus, and repenting of sin.

Interesting concept....could you please show scripture and verse that states the the "Lake of Fire" is eternal torment, and are you saying that when one enters the eternal torment that they are in the "Lake of fires" for an eternity? I've not found that claim as yet?

Revelation 20:10-15)

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:10-15).

The lake of Fire IS the eternal fires that the demons and satan will suffer in.

Matthew 25:41

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation 14:11

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 20:10

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

No need to shout. Just pay attention to what you show as support. Note: (Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels)

Please note that what you attempt to show as "The Lake of Fires" does NOT support what you're saying. The only thing that is being referenced here is, "everlasting fire." I understand that man will suffer "eternal or everlasting fire" if he goes to Hell. But that's not the same as the "Lake of Fires" you referenced is it? And when you referenced the "Lake of fires" from another scripture/verse please not that it says nothing about "eternity."

Apprectiate all your efforts, but "the Lake of Fire that you referenced in Rev.20:11 does not give information that it is "EtERNAL FIRE" or my concordance does NOT show the word ETERNAL when I thumb thru that scripture you have given as support. I HAVE found references that address "Eternal Fires" and "burning in Eternal Flames" Just not when I have ever read about the "Lake of Fires."

Thanks anyway for your efforts though

No worries.

"Revelation 20:10-15)

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." (Rev. 2o:10). I never looked it up in my concordance but I thought "forever and ever," meant just that! The devil will be cast into the lake of fire where he will be tormented for ever and ever, so it must be an eternal fire and eternal torment opr this scripture is false? And those not written in the book of life will also be tossed in according to scripture.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
