. . .

Therefore, the cherubim with the flaming sword in typology represent God's glory, His holiness and His righteousness, all of which must be satisfied in order for man to approach the tree of life. However, as we know, the sinful condition of man does cannot attain to God's glory, does not possess God's holiness, and cannot meet God's righteous requirement in order to have fellowship with Him. Between God and the sinful man is an enormous gulf which no mortal man, or even the blood of animals could ever bridge.

That is really cool, Ovedya!

Excellent explanation, and a lot more meaningful than other things I have heard.

Nice post Ovedya. We should also keep in mind that just because a story has typological significance, does not mean it did not happen.

Along those same lines, do you know where the first place the word "love" is use in the Bible?

"Take your son," He said, "your only son Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

Genesis 22:15 HCSB

The first time the word love is used in the bible is in reference to a father offering his only son up as a sacrifice. This echos:

For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 HCSB

WOW...... Ovedya, it highlights once again how far we fall short and the absolute AWSOMENESS of God. The symbolism is very interesting and very much worth considerable thought......... Pondering. But more over it just highlights to me how AMAZING He is.

Can't wait to read more.:laugh::noidea:

That is really interesting Eric, I don't think we fully comprehend the word love in our culture.

So God invented the sword? :emot-dance:

That's all you got from that? :emot-dance:

I'm just wondering how they could have got a sword from the original text if war and violence hadn't been invented till some time after the fall. Even Cain had to use a rock to kill his brother, did he not?

I had always assumed that they used the word "sword" for lack of a better word for whatever the flaming thing was. :emot-dance:

I'm not the crispiest chip in the bag when it comes to analyzing allagories and such.

Perhaps in the earthly realm war hadn't begun for a few generations, but in the spiritual realm there was a war in the heavens prior to the fall of man.
