Why is it so important to have one? Why is a "mere book" so incredibly important? There are many today that discredit the bible, saying it is a good read, but nothing more. The Bible as a book is the most precious thing that I own. I've been a Christian most of my life and am still amazed that no matter what I'm feeling, thinking, dealing with, etc....I open my Bible and more often than not I find something that I know I've read before but it comes alive to me in a way that I'd never noticed before. I do not belive the Bible is God. Unless you want to go to the point where everything is God... Since he spoke everything in existence. Then yes it is God. It is His very words Amen - He speaks to us through His word. He also gives us examples of what to do in certain situations, what men of God did when the going got tough. He tells us how a plain woman saved a nation, how a boy defeated a giant, how a counties religion was exposed for being fake.
