Law/Grace??

Hi everyone!

Question: Who was Jesus talking to and preaching to when He was on the earth?

Answer: Jesus said to the Gentile woman that asked for healing for her daughter that He came to save the lost sheep of Israel.

Jesus came to a people (Israel) who were living under law. I believe that is the reason so much of the Gospels sound like Law, rather that what the Apostle Paul wrote in the Age of Grace. In other words, Jesus preached Law to Israel! There was no "Grace" in view at this time.

As Paul said, the New Testament could not come into effect until the testator (Jesus) died.

I believe this is the reason people have such diverse ideas about things like the parable of the five virgins, etc. It seems to me that we should pay attention to who is doing the talking and who is being talked to since there were different dispensations in the Bible.

What does everyone think?

God bless,

Donna

While there is some truth to what you say, how far apart do we actually push apart the two?

To be honest, adherance to the Law was not what saved anybody, it was still grace through faith under the Moasic Law.

The same way the Jews acted out their faith through adherance to the Moasic Law, so we must act out our faith through adherance to the Law of Christ.

Everything that Christ taught was part of His Law, which we are under and must obey.

That is what faith is--belief acted out of love.

I think he was teaching to the whole world. He didn't get rid of Judaism, He changed it into Christianity. That's how I see it.

Godspeed,

He was speaking to every circumcised in the heart believer from the start of time till the end of time. There was more grace extended in the old testament then in the new. And it was stated very emphatically that when one insists on having their own way He will cease extending that grace, and delivering them from their enemies, which are the temptations that are yielded to and lead to death. That death is seperation from God.

He spoke to the Jews first, then when they rejected Him, He taught the Gentiles. (thus our being grafted into the olive tree)

Greetings Donna,

You will also see several times when Jesus remarked about gentiles - "What great faith."

What we see is that to the Jews, particularly the Sadducees and Pharisees, He piled the law on so high, that even His disciples made the remark:

Matthew 19:25-26 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

He had just got through telling the rich man to "give it all away", even after the rich man had said:

Matthew 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

You see, it is not possible to keep the WHOLE law and not stumble on one portion of it, and that is all it takes to keep us out of heaven.

Yet He DID preach grace and love AND "faith", throughout His ministry, so once when He was asked why He always spoke in parables this is what He said:

Matthew 13:11-16 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

So here is Jesus speaking to His Jewish disciples, speaking of those Jews who were pharisical and who tried to obtain righteousness "by the law".

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
